24/9/2024 19:44 | In his role as president of the Commission on Maritime, Port and Fisheries Interests of the Chamber of Deputies, Buenos Aires Deputy Gustavo Pulti, carries out different monitoring with interference on the Atlantic coast. In this case, he points out that an agreement between the Argentine State and the Foreign Ministry of the United Kingdom is allowing him to carry out work at sea around the Malvinas without forcing the islanders to give explanations about their movements and constructions on the sea.Pulti mentioned that "we are facing a Government that so far this year has had an enormous contempt for Argentine sovereignty and the sea, so far in 2024 the British have made a number of decisions about our sea with the tacit - if not explicit - consent of the Argentine Foreign Ministry. In January, Cameron and the British Foreign Secretary visited the Islands, being the first Foreign Minister in history to set foot on the Falklands, stating that they are part of the British family. On the reason why there is this advance towards our Atlantic, the deputy points to a bilateral agreement between the two countries for the British to act freely. "On June 18, the Government signed an agreement within the framework of the United Nations rights for biological preservation; resolves to sign this one with a number of countries, with that long title that despite so many words the only thing it aims at is to make the partridge dizzy. These countries are small states led by the United Kingdom that, together with different NGOs, restrict Argentina's responsibility over these seas to move from the sole responsibility of those small states. This is an irreparable step backwards if the National Congress does not reject that agreement. We are in danger of losing sovereignty in the sea and the Malvinas Islands by Foreign Minister Mondino."As a result of the aforementioned arrival of the United Kingdom official to the territory, the deputy considers the impact caused by this type of action. "He has questioned Argentine sovereignty with that statement and has questioned our sovereignty with his visit, never before had a foreign minister visited the Malvinas, meanwhile the Argentine government is silent.""On the one hand, we have a British civil servant making decisions at sea where she has no legitimacy; it is Alison Blake, the commissioner for South Georgia and the South Sandwich. To all this, the Argentine Foreign Ministry, keeping its mouth shut. On the other hand, it was decided to build a port on islands in the Argentine Sea with a British port, called by them the Antarctic Portal, which is already reflecting a geopolitical intention on the usurped islands to project an arm of the Antarctic continent. In short, those responsible for the usurpation on the islands open oil exploitation for 23 wells, to take 300 million barrels, as it is known by the English media. In the face of this exploitation of our oil in our sea, the Argentine Foreign Ministry said nothing," Pulti said.To conclude, the deputy for the province of Buenos Aires affirms what has been happening in the Malvinas Islands and continued to emphasize this action. "That is what should not happen, but it is what is happening, the restriction of what was resolved by Commissioner Alison Blake is in force, the restriction of fishing and navigation is in force, the construction of the port is in force, oil exploration is in force and the agreement that is signed by Mondino is in force, now we depend on the National Congress to reject it."In fact, the legislator again indicated that "if Congress does not reject it, not only do we lose the possibility of unilateral sovereignty as we have it and we must preserve it, but we resign it to a set of States and NGOs, in addition to that agreement is inalienable, we are going to be part of international pacts that we will not be able to renounce by law later, this is happening."In terms of geopolitics, he explains the importance of the maritime territory and its possible consequence in the face of this foreign advance on Argentine soil. In this regard, Pulti defined it as "fundamental for our preservation, because wherever we fish we are within a biological mass that is not parceled out but in its habitat moves to the seas where they now restrict fishing and navigation, they move for food reasons, for climatic reasons, they move for reproductive reasons. With which this maritime universe for the biological mass is unique, this means that any intervention by a foreign force affects our sovereignty and the interests of each of our provinces."
