Paul StumpfConsultant offshore O&M3hIn 2014 the project was stalled due to the huge fall in the oilprice. Premier Oil had plans to produce with the use of a tension legged platform. The platform was to become the second largest TLP in the world at the time. Feed was started with AMEC in London. I was part of the Feed in those days. Great project with a great company. Unfortunately it was put on hold. Good to see it goes ahead.

This also shows that States cannot escape their obligations under the ECT. UK oil company monetises Energy Charter Treaty award The funds will allow Rockhopper to focus on developing a project in the Falkland Islands while Italy continues with efforts to have the award annulled at ICSID.   The company says it has received €19 million out of a first tranche payment of €45 million, with the balance of €26 million going to the original funder that financed the arbitration – previously identified as the UK's Harbour Litigation Funding. Rockhopper will also use the funds to pay a €4 million success fee to its legal representatives so long as Italy has to pay more than nominal damages. King & Spalding has been acting for Rockhopper in the dispute.

The operator of the Falkland Islands’ first offshore oil and gas project is making significant inroads into identifying the two principal offshore facilities that are required for its development.

The Sea Lion project aims to develop a certified gross best estimate resource of 791 million barrels of oil, according to Israeli operator Navitas Petroleum.

In this operation, they worked closely with the Falkland Islands Defence Force, the Royal Navy (the British navy) through the patrol boat HMS Forth, and the Royal Air Force (RAF).The main objective of this exercise was to improve interoperability and strengthen coordination between the British military forces and the Falkland Islands Defence Force.
