Professional people I contact and not m0rons on BBs ? LolEh Citizen?The oil and gas was discovered and evaluated more than ten years ago. The marine environment north of the islands is not extreme and there is no need for hydrocarbons to be landed onshore, they can be exported directly by shuttle tanker to market. Only a supply base would be needed on the environmentally sensitive islands. There is a market for the gas, but it would take political will - if Argentina would build a pipeline to the marine border to take the gas, this gas could be exported from the field instead of having to process and reinject it back down into reservoirs (saving CAPEX, reducing carbon footprint, and avoiding it being stranded). Argentina has fairly empty onshore gas pipelines running north-south up to Buenos Aires, and this gas would be significantly cheaper for them than imported LNG. So both the Falklands and Argentina would benefit, possibly a step towards more normal relations someday.

Navitas estimated that a final investment decision (FID) is expected to be received during the year 2024, but for this a number of steps are required.Apart from the approval of the Falkland Islands government for the development plan - Navits is looking at the possibility of introducing a partner to the project - before or after receiving a final investment decision (FID). In other Argentinian news ?The Malvinas Islands opened the door for oil exploration in their waters for the first time, a measure that could mean an economic boom for its inhabitants, as revealed this Sunday by the British newspaper Sunday Telegraph .The territory's governing council asked islanders if they support the plan to extract up to 500 million barrels of oil from the Sea Lion field, 240 kilometres north of the islands.According to the paper, Navitas Petroleum, an Israeli company, bought the majority of the rights to the field, meaning that most of the profits would go to its shareholders in Israel and the United States.However, islanders could benefit from millions of pounds in royalties, transforming the islands' economy, which currently depends on sheep farming and fishing.The newspaper estimates that exploitation of the field could be politically difficult for the United Kingdom due to carbon emissions.The Labor Party, which is emerging as the winner of the British elections on July 4, highlighted its objective of accelerating the energy transition and has promised to prohibit all new oil and gas exploration in British waters.This ban would not affect the Falklands, since it is the local administration that has a say over drilling rights in the surrounding waters.Sea Lion's oil would be processed by a floating production, storage and offloading vessel, with tankers carrying the oil to be sold on global energy markets, the newspaper reports.Argentina has claimed sovereignty over the Falklands, which are about 600 kilometres off the Argentine coast of Patagonia, since 1833, and the military junta that ruled the South American country in 1982 began a war with the United Kingdom over their possession that ended with a victory for British forces.

Apart from the obvious issue of yet another diplomatic confrontation between the UK and Argentina that will result from Oil and Gas extraction from the South Atlantic ocean, Britain has already pledged to reduce its dependence on fossil fuels, which includes Oil and Gas.



The 1970's and 1980's dash for Oil and Gas is over, the future is carbon neutral energy and clean power generation including solar power, wind power, wave power.

Better option for the Falkland Islands would be to install large quantities of both onshore and offshore wind farms
