An expert that worked on Sealion The Falkland Islands has substantial "stranded" gas resources (multiple TCF) that if produced during more valuable oil production would then have to be reinjected back into the ground to avoid flaring. Substantial cost would be involved with larger FPSO(s) and more power generation as required for reinjection compressors. There is minimal chance of LNG exports unless significant additional investment was made in FLNG facilities.If geopolitics could look at this calmly, this is a resource that could be marketed to Argentina at a very low price (much lower than LNG pricing) if Argentina were to build a pipeline out to get it at the border (which would reduce the chance of future political trade barriers). A low gas price could be a way of Argentina to obtain value from a regional resource. Argentina has major north-south gas transmission lines that could transport the gas northwards to population and industrial centres.Energy security is important and maybe a way to help resolve geopolitical issues.
