I repeat it's horses for courses. In this day and age some people can only afford costume jewellery and the firms that produce such, do very well from what I can gather as that will include many people. The top end of the market will go to Tiffany's stores or Faberge perhaps. Those that aspire to have gold and genuine gem stones can get some beautiful sapphires from Richland, that are more affordable. I suspect there are more people by numbers in the latter category.

Hazl: Might be so, but at the time that I first wrote about Gemfields in 2013 the company had no debt. At the time that Pallinghurst had to step in and swallow Gemfields up, Gemfields was wallowing in debt of $68 million (or thereabouts), all despite the grandiose boasting of millions of dollars in Emerald and ruby Sales. And no dividends. Sure a lot of day traders playing the market and maybe you, made money from Gemfields shares and good luck to you all. My remarks about Richlands are based upon facts that you can check for yourself. They are mining sapphire at the bottom end of the quality chain and nothing can change that fact. I hope that they do well with their marketing strategy, but as I said it is a heavy barrow to push uphill trying to compete in a specialist market with a low end product.

Only big news can propel this share . Maybe operational update for 3q and surely 1,2mln production but how much sell and average sell price will be?All dirigente full pocket share (0.7p + 1.7p) average 1.3p and what? Just price 18 mln cap . Dedos cruzados.

By the way interesting to see your sum total of posts is a grand 6 since 2013? Again each to warn about gemstones. However, your first in 2013 seemed to be followed by a substantial rise in Gemfields. Perhaps you will have the same effect here!

As long as the price is right everything has a value 2cagey. I did well with Gemfields , but sold out thankfully before the whole industry had taken a knock. Look at the lowly price they went to and they had Faberge! Much better to buy when a sector is low. Some companies make it, some don't but I like Richland's website and whilst I agree with you that Sapphires from Ceylon anyway, are amongst the most prized,Australian sapphires are beautiful too, and will command their own price .

Good luck to all you dreamers. The Queensland field and particularly where this company is mining sapphires is at the bottom end of the quality chain when it comes to blue sapphire. Top quality blue sapphire from deposits in Burma, Sri Lanka or Madagascar is in short supply and prices have surged since 2012 for those quality goods. Sadly for Richland that surge does not apply to their goods, being mainly assorted coloured stones. Richland's own website verifies that fact.Good luck also to them with their marketing efforts, but it is a big barrow to push uphill.

LUKASIC Understand, your point but it might well boost the gem industry across the board, with any luck. Sapphires are a hard stone, too and therefore more expensive, along with rubies.

People will suddenly want diamonds and they won't know why!

'He adds that increasing the marketing budget from “a strong position” will help support “continued demand in both mature and developing markets, particularly among millennials, who are already the largest group of diamond consumers—despite [millennials] not having yet reached their maximum earning potential.” http://www.jckonline.com/editorial-article/de-beers-to-invest-140-million-in-diamond-marketing-this-year/

Some of those trades are misleading....ought to be in the 'buy' column rather than 'sell' I think! Anyway looking good. IMO
