good post, thats what they intend to do ie buy grow there own feedstock, but the problem is how long will it take to grow the amount they need.

Shorters have had there day, its suicidal to be shorting this at current levels. They were suppose to be profitable this year but its going to take 1 or 2 years to achieve now.

still a great long term buy imho. $50m.. how much acres can they buy with that.
:)

Just as an example of what can be done in procuring Feedstock at current Market Prices - this shows it can be done very cheaply.

"Energem Resources Inc ("Energem" or "the Company") is
pleased to announce that it has acquired a 70% controlling interest in a jatropha based bio-diesel venture in Mozambique"

"Energem has acquired its 70% equity interest in the venture in exchange for a
commitment to fund the further development of the project for an amount of up to US$5.5 million"

"This amount is expected to be required over the next year to fully plant the initial 1000 hectares, clear and commence planting on a further 5000 hectares, acquire additional land of up to 60,000 hectares"

1 hectares = 2.47105 acre

So going on Dusseldorf's figures of "jatropha curcas can produce 3000 gallons per acre now"

So on those figues gives 6000 hectares * 3000 * 2.47105 (conversion factor)= 45 Million Gallons per year - all for $5.5 million.

The RPL BioDiesel faciity has a capacity of 60 million and off that amount they intend to sell 14 million gallons - therefore the Power Plants need only 45 million gallons.

So the business model is not dead as some shorters will claim - just needs execution of correct strategy.

Now all we need is this bunch of muppets to get such a deal or something close and we are talking business.

If muppets like Energem can do it - then surely RPL can do it too.

From the trading update

RPL now intends to accelerate this strategy of establishing its own upstream
feedstock sourcing operation in an effort to replace, as soon as possible, the
volume of biodiesel feedstock oils that would have been supplied by the Safari
contract

In this regard, the Company is pleased to announce that a number of
opportunities have already been identified and are currently the subject of
detailed analysis and review under exclusivity arrangements. The opportunities
are being evaluated by independent experts, Agriteam Canada Consulting Ltd,
commissioned by the Company and include producing palm oil plantations. These
offer the potential for both near term delivery of renewable fuels at economic
prices and optimisation of feedstock production through infrastructure upgrading or similar improvements in production technology. RPL will provide a progress update on its evaluation of these opportunities in due course.

Wonder how much longer before we hear on this. Results are out near the end of Septemper so I doubt news is far away now.

Back into the 30's soon me thinks - then news of an alternative Palm oil source would almost certainly produce a sharp spike up from this one.

either positive news about the litigation

or news to say they'd secured a new source (feedstock)

would do wonders for the price

two small trades driving the rise? or the rise sucking in a couple of trades? or news on the way?

you pays you money and makes your choice....risky as it is...

asparks,

Agreed.

This is starting to look very interesting now.

SP rising - could be about to get some news ?

Wouldn't take much good news to produce a very sharp rise indeed from this one, that's for sure ...

Observant - I hope they go for algae. South Africa for example is investing 11bn Rand into a hydroelectric damn for power and irrigation to develop biodiesel fuel from non destructive feedstocks.

fact: even if the entire landmass of the world was producing biodiesel fuelstock, there would only be sufficient for a third of our current fuel demands using conventional sources

however,

current oil crops cannot be expected to produce more than, at most, 1000 gallons of fuel per acre.

Meanwhile, he projects that ethanol, through a transition to cellulosic ethanol can be expected to provide something like 2500 to 3000 gallons per acre. That may be true, but according to my sources, jatropha curcas can produce 3000 gallons per acre now, and is projected to be as high as 5000 gallons per acre in a few years (actually 8 years if you want to be specific).

"Research from the University of New Hampshire shows algae produces between 5,000 and 15,000 gallons of fuel per acre per year"

Fact: Natural woods of Borneo have nearly all been destroyed for Palm oil plantations.

Hope RPL's future supply of palm oil is not enviromentally destructive to the natural world.

They must get this right.
