the vanadium alone for the first part of the order would be nearly $20,000,000

80,000 kwh x $240 - $19,200,000

in 2015 the cost of vanadium was $5 and the cost per KW was $139, they have improved on the battery tech to reduce the vanadium content by nearly half, so around $70 at $5 per lb, now the price is 4 times $5 so £240 per Kwh x 360kwh $86,400 for the vanadium...in a 360kwh flow machine

Must be waiting for storage machines lol

There’s zero chance of a contract whilst Vanadium prices are this high. I have a link I’ll find that shows the vanadium cost is higher then the sale value. I’ll post it over the weekend and it’s scott who gave them that information...

Rolling mill Finow on the brink: 145 workers fear for a job

Eberswalde (MOZ) For the second time in two years, the Walzwerk Finow GmbH has filed for bankruptcy. Not even the CEO, who is committed to optimism, now still assumes that the traditional business can be saved.
Until recently, it was trying to find more investors, said Patrick von Hertzberg, managing partner of the rolling mill, which is one of the most important industrial companies in Eberswalde (Barnim), although it currently employs only 145 people. There was even a letter of intent from an Eastern European investor. "Our losses over the last three months and the uncertainties about the European debt crisis have ultimately deterred the investor," Hertzberg continued.

He had filed for bankruptcy at Frankfurt (Oder) district court, as it was foreseeable that insolvency would occur in the short term. There is currently no tangible perspective for the work, he added. The news of the impending bankruptcy was announced on Monday by the CEO first to the public and then by the rapidly-summoned workforce.

As early as September 2009, insolvency proceedings had been opened for the rolling mill. This was justified by the then first financial and economic crisis. The first time, the operation, which mainly produces welded steel tubes and cold-formed steel profiles, but by combined effort was still saved: the creditors waived part of their demands, which then more than 200 employees accepted wage losses, and the state of Brandenburg took over a guarantee of seven million euros. The collateral was needed for the purchase of input material. Because all this was not enough, came for a third of the employees to August 2010, the termination. At the turn of the year, the first insolvency proceedings were finally lifted.

"Although we were still weakened anyway, we had to cope with further setbacks in the course of 2011," the managing director said. Main problem were now missing orders. "We would have had to achieve a minimum production of 4500 tons of standard pipes per month in order to cover costs," says von Hertzberg. The actual paragraph was only 2800 to 3500 tons per month. That was due to the tough competition. "Because of the collapsed demand, especially in southern Europe, the local pipe producers are pushing their way into the market at ruinous prices," he emphasized.

The second application for bankruptcy has several consequences: The state guarantee no longer applies, which is why no starting material can be bought. The staff will receive insolvency default money and will only process the existing orders. The plant will be closed by mid-November. The efforts to rescue the company are over, said von Hertzberg.

This is a translation of an item on the WWF website :-

control energy

With the progressive expansion of renewable energies, naturally more frequent and higher fluctuations in the electricity grid occur.

The electricity producers are obliged to give as accurate as possible forecasts regarding the delivery quantities in order to optimally plan the feed-in to the German electricity grid and to keep the standard frequency in the power grid at 50 Hertz. Deviations of the forecasted feed-in to the grid are nevertheless given.

In this case, the control energy (also called "control power") intervenes to avert a collapse of the power grid. With this reserve, it is possible to compensate for fluctuations in the power grid within seconds ("primary control"), five minutes ("secondary control") or quarter hours ("minute reserve").

It can not only come to a demand for more electricity, but also to an oversupply - consumers are sought. Input and output as well as the capacities made available for this are remunerated according to the market situation.

Balancing suddenly increased demand with insufficient supply, this is called "positive control energy" - more electricity has to be fed into the grids at short notice.

The compensation of increased supply and suddenly weak demand, however, is called "negative control energy" - electricity must be fed out of the grid at short notice.

Our project will be able to provide both positive and negative control power.
