Good evening phil.

Yes, I agree. We've run up from around £57 before xmas to £64 today, nothing goes up in a straight line, although gold is currently up $13 (spot), so could carry through tomorrow. You know how RRS operates, it gets over exuberant to the upside, and over gloomy to the downside, so could be a short-lived spike to £65 in the first hour.

There still seems to be a downward bias against the gold price, and I wouldn't be surprised if the (rigged) Comex doesn't dump massive amounts of paper gold contracts to bring the price down yet again. History has shown that the riggers normally operate around 2.30am in the morning London time, when gold trading is at it's lightest in parts of the Far East. That's the only danger I can see in the short-term, a large fall in gold prices when nobody expects it, and a corresponding plunge back below £60 here.

So far though, RRS has been "a gold mine".

Pardon the pun.

"Expert" on CNBC said earlier that "Gold is still in a bear market, this is a short-term rally and the downside will resume to around $1050 before it's all through" (or words similar).

Normally volume is key. I don't have volume figures for the (rigged) Comex, but if anyone has a link to them, worth keeping an eye on.

Agree with blueball, reckon we could hit £65 tomorrow at some stage.

Sharecast:

Fresnillo and Randgold Resources were the standout gainers as a weaker dollar sent gold prices higher.

"These names have been heavily beaten down in the past two months, as gold and silver retreat, but perhaps their tribulations are over," said IG's Chris Beauchamp.

"The US dollar is weakening, and there finally seems to be some real staying power in the gold bounce. The greenback's rally has hit a brick wall over the past two weeks, as the effects of the Fed meeting wear off, and with a light schedule of US data this week it is not surprising to see the dollar lose some of its powerful momentum."

I see "michaels" is unusually keeping his mouth shut.

Mind, I can understand. He can't show himself until he polishes the bolt in his neck.

Im here. Bought RRS yesterday and sold today. I believe the Gold price is on its way to $1100 and then $1000. Enjoying these short term rallies though. May buy more RRS later. Watching closely. Also trading FXPO and BP a lot recently.
