MO has set goals to: 1) reduce the shipping industry’s greenhouse-gas emissions by at least 50% by 2050, 2) reduce the carbon intensity of emissions by 40% by 2030 and 70% by 2050, compared to 2008 levels. Meeting these goals is estimated to cost around $1.65 trillion. To fully decarbonise the shipping industry, particularly during this transitional period, partnerships are extraordinarily important. No one entity can get there on its own.

Prabhat Jha, Group MD & CEO of MSC Shipmanagement Ltd, added: ‘MSC Shipmanagement is delighted to be working with the Quadrise team under this new agreement, as together we have an important enabling role in the marine energy transition towards a net zero carbon future and reducing our own vessel emissions.

‘MSC has one of the youngest fleets among the worldâ€âR22;¢s leading shipping lines, and we seek to continually improve energy efficiency by collaborating with suppliers such as Quadrise to promote the wider adoption of low and zero-carbon fuels.â€â222;¢

Edited from BioMSAR to MSAR is not more expensive it is cheaper than conventional fuels.
But BioMSAR gives better CO2 and cost savings than existing biofuels. ... where MSAR or bioMSAR may be used either as an alternative fuel source ...

Look at the expense required for storage of LNG's.
Look at the safety....explosive.... needs stringent safety measures to avoid methane slip.
You have to look at the total package.
Individual parts will not do it is the oversall cost that counts.
Things change this 2017 McKinsey report talks about a consolidating shipping industry
MSC isn't even in it's list in diagram Exhibit 7 1996

I suspect this is the reason they are setting up a ship to test ours.....they are expensive....but ours aren't.

Don't forget 'misca' that MSC have most clearly stated that they need more than one source.

That is just one of them.
It's such a pity that so many posters here try to promote doubt.

It's a shame we have been with out news for so long....people get bored.

But this industry is going to be huge and ongoing.
We only need a slice of the action and we'd be made up!

MSC forges biofuels deal with DB Schenker

Swiss-based liner Mediterranean Shipping Co (MSC) and freight forwarder DB Schenker, a division of German rail operator Deutsche Bahn, have sealed a deal that aims to slash carbon emissions by using second-generation biofuels.

The arrangement covers 12,000 tonnes of biofuel component for all of DB Schenker’s consolidated cargo, LCL (less-than-container load), FCL (full-container-load) and reefer containers from MSC.

DB Schenker said the amount of biofuel, derived from used cooking oil, is enough to save an additional 35,000 tonnes of CO2 equivalents along the entire production chain, adding that the purchase agreement “represents one of the largest carbon-insetting biofuel deals between a freight forwarder and a shipping company.”

The equivalent of around 30,000 teu may be shipped with net-zero CO2 emissions, depending on how the fuel is used, DB Schenker noted. The biofuel component will be blended between 20% and 30%, resulting in approximately 50,000 tonnes of blended biofuel to be used in MSC’s containerships.

Thorsten Meincke, global board member for air and ocean freight at DB Schenker, said: “We are doing this because we firmly believe it is the right thing to do and are therefore paying for biofuel purchases in advance. One thing is certain: the more customers demand climate neutrality throughout supply chains, the faster we achieve clean container ocean freight.”

Caroline Becquart, senior vice president of MSC, added: “Decarbonizing ocean freight cannot be achieved by a single player and requires collaboration between shipping and logistics companies and their customers. MSC Biofuel Solution is our first certified carbon insetting program that reduces emissions in our customers’ supply chains, accelerating the energy transition by creating demand for net-zero-carbon shipping and delivering direct CO2 savings.”

Is it fair to say that QFI has become more of a virtual business. ie no main office, no customers, no inventory, no nothing really, apart from AGMs and RNSs and the occasional jackpot placing ?

If companies are finding it hard to obtain fuel do you think it makes sense for more people to be interested in clean energy as an alternative?

Actually, shouldn’t that Q2 sea trial date be deleted ? There’s still no fuel supply so surely Q2 and Q3 are impossible, with Q4 being unlikely ?

Tbf, I can’t guarantee that there won’t be a sea trial last year, it’s only my opinion as usual

TBF hazl, I'm starting to have my doubts about a global sea-going trial beginning last year. Maybe the trial is simply stuck in the post though ?

Imagine buying an entire container ship to do a fuel trial last year? Inadvertently not quite realising that there was no fuel supply ? At least it’s still planned for Q1. No, Q2 is it? Anyway, back to my new book…….Humpty just sat on a wall apparently

What you're saying is that you have invested absolute peanuts but feel compelled to post daily raging against Mr Market. Thank you for confirming which category you put yourself in Rodney. You clearly know little about

the macro of going green

the difficulty of even established companies in procuring... a fail safe... competitive... safe option to fossil fuels

the fact that QFI have been beavering away for years longer than the rest....to give them a first to market edge

The fact that top companies from different international areas are taking them seriously.
I believe it's a matter of time before somebody uses their fuel.
If not then that is what a penny share is about a speculative risk with a small amount of shares.

Come on news!

Which begs the question - what exactly is your interest (assuming you are not a complete fool - one scenario which is is entirely possible of course) in being superbullish (v strangely on a daily basis) on a stock with a terrible track record and a company that has lost its investors every single dime for almost two decades? Those who argue the bear case are simply reflecting what Mr Market is saying Einstein. I drop by here to get some free entertainment from you but don't you think it is time to tell us why you do what you do aka answer the very question you keep asking to (effectively) Mr Market itself (as in the the market has been wrong on this for two decades but the odd ball here is on mission to enlighten the universe)?
