Perhaps most baffling is why the board and that over at AAF have both said 'we welcome the currency devaluation'? I said at the time WTF? Naira is down 200% in a year! Insane.

I want to see some large director buys very soon.

(Mail market report)

Analysts at Numis said: 'We continue to believe in the potential of PZ Cussons management to deliver a material transformation in the quality of earnings for the group but acknowledge recent Nigerian events have delayed progress towards this goal.'

It would be interesting to know what the Zochinis family trust think now, will they sit this out or put the firm up for sale - who knows. The value is in the brands but could take a while to recover in the medium/long term the company should do well.

Yes deanowls, i don't think they could actually take the cash out the country anyway even if they had wanted too. Not in large amounts anyhow.

Historic, famous brand trading at multi decade lows.
Could be taken back private.

Believe that there were currency embargoes. Emirates airline also had issues the last few years and stopped flying there as they couldn’t repatriate cash.

Will be interesting to see what the yanks make of this. There is value in the brand but not the mngt. This will prob drift down further for months now if it is not taken out on the cheap

Question is i suppose was the decision to keep so much cash in Nigeria the Families or the CEO's?

If the former then it's what they wanted, if the latter then perhaps it's time he fell on his sword?

The question I asked previously ..how on earth did they keep so much cash (in local currency) in their Nigerian business given FX risk?.

Extraordinary value distruction.

P&L down to £30m of which £13m Africa so really £17m of available profit, not good. Again in denial using average rstes for Naira. Already lost another £30m on cash balance, Other regions only steady no growth. Doe not look good for market opening down to £1.05 maybe.
