Institutions can be consulted in coming weeks so that when the Karuna money arrives the plan can be implemented PDQ

that is helpful - much to look forward to then :) the constant selling will ultimately bring a buyers strike I suspect with those waiting on the sidelines for a stable pattern to emerge and the seller gone - shame we cannot call the market makers and find out how much overhang is left...

There is probably 300m dollars to play with.Daphne will consult with the big holders. This has been flagged since September and there seems no rush.A tender offer at a premium is probably the best way to clear the holders who need to sell/top slice. This will get the shares to a fairish level and will increase assets per share. Not everyone will need to participate. If it's pitched to low then there will be limited take up.Cash payment is also possible.Maybe a combination of the two.

I am not as close to these numbers as you are Colin, but on the above basis what is the likely most they can return to shareholders as a special dividend in your view

As a long term holder the longer we stay at a net cash position the more accretive the buyback is so i am pretty relaxed. I have order buy limits set just below net cash incase!

It is hard to read too much into the trades but to my glance it appears someone is dumping c.200-300k a day, the firm is buying back c.100k a day sometimes a little more and net retail demand picking up the rest - as we drop further we may get stop losses being triggered.
Let's hope over the next week or two this selling activity lessens and with the firm's buy backs in place we can pick back up again...

Correct, the auction creates a trade at a mutually acceptable price between the seller(s) and buyer(s)

Could someone advise me, I thought that shares in the auction were matched, if i'm correct, at least there is a buyer.

A seller is still rogering the stock at the closing auction, needs to stop before this can go higher

It certainly is crazy cheap so have to agree, plus the buy backs will help

Can't really understand why this is trading so close to cash on/due to the books

Glad I grew some balls yesterday. Given the cash it should not be this volatile...

I never use these so called limit prices, when you use this what do you set the price at - it all seems a bit of a game of chance to me. If the seller is now cleared out this will move up quickly - if another seller arrives, we move back down.

daijavu,

Some might have been bought back by PRTC, however as seen by the figures below, the UT trade size has been above the size of the buy back

Date UT size Buyback size
09/01 317,412 92,828
10/01 200,555 117,693
11/01 41,859 116,937

As Colinblackbourn points out the buy backs by PRTC can be up to 25% of daily volume, my point is that someone has offloaded over £1million at the end of day auction over the past 3 days - I have no idea who or why

For every seller there is a buyer but why sell now

Perhaps I will put a limit order in at the end of the day to see if I can pick up a few cheap ones

Buy backs are 25pc of the volume throughout the day excluding auctions

I think the UT trades at the end of each day are mainly, perhaps entirely, PTRC buybacks at deflated prices
