The bonds (PF16) have been weak this month. I put it down to concerns about payday loans being capped by HMGov. And, generally, a cap on APRs.

All are predicting between 65 and 78p DPS next year - a prospective yield of 6 to 7% on todays price.Where could you do better and remain in a blue chip?

Interim management statement out this am - broadly positive but cautious.
Bottom line -
Overall, the Board anticipates a good result for the year.
sp is unchanged today ; ie in line with expectations.

Really surprised by the lack of comment on here, I've not visited this board before although I bought in 6 months and 26% gain ago (excluding the divi which stands at over 7.5% on my buy price with the latest hike - assuming the 5.1% uplift is carried through to the final).

Given that it's a fairly controversial, attracts shorters and has the kind of spikey chart I imagine momentum traders could use why are there so few of ADVFN's community interested?

Yeah ,you have to feel sorry for them.

This is still yielding 5.76% at todays price ; I think there is going to be a flurry of brokers and papers tips over the next week or so; further rise seems likely.Hold and smile.

Highlights

Group

-- First half pre-tax profit up by 15.4% to GBP62.3m (2010: GBP54.0m) reflecting high quality receivables growth and favourable impairment trends.

-- Increase in the interim dividend of 5.1% to 26.7p (2010: 25.4p) supported by earnings growth and strong capital generation.

-- Strong balance sheet and liquidity with gearing ratio of 3.3 times and headroom on committed facilities of GBP280m, sufficient to meet contractual maturities and fund planned growth until the final quarter of 2012.

-- In addition, Vanquis Bank retail deposit taking programme activated in July to establish standalone funding for this growing business and further diversify the group's funding base.


Over £11 this am - the market likes it.

Didn't quite trigger my 925 buy limit today , but another shorter disclosure tomorrow might push it down more.
RBC analyst Peter Lenardos said it is unlikely that Provident Financial (LON:PFG) will achieve the broker's full year forecasts. As such he downgraded his forecasts to take into account the lower growth, he also cut his rating to 'underperform' and slashed his price target from 910 to 885 pence.

The dividend cover at PFG is not great at 1.21 , but that has always been an attraction here- they give shareholders a lot of their profits.
