All OK so far GD.

Profits at Ireland’s only oil refinery reached €58 million in 2016 aided by improved prices and a boost to the value of the business, the latest figures show.

Cairn could have money to burn:

RBC Capital has upgraded its target for Cairn Energy PLC (LON:CNE) as the oiler could later this year see a long awaited windfall, when a protracted arbitration over its former Indian business comes to a close.

Might be an rns about that. It kind of knocked the stuffing out of today's session.

I don't think they exactly covered themselves with glory on the H&D potential farmin. One month to go until their 2 year option expires and not a single deliverable achieved. There was a flurry of NUOG punters invaded the lse thread for PVR over the weekend Trying to make a case for them coming on board. Clutching at straws imo. A consortium of contractors will not deliver. I've seen how flawed this business model is in my own career. I've been keeping away from the board since as I don't want to get involved in a slanging match!

Herm. The consortium does, and recent events (including their interaction with Helvick and Dunmore) it might just stack up. And think of it.. no money changes hands until the oil leaves the ground. Now that's development motivation. Just saying it's a possibility.

1cag, Do they have the dough required for such a capital intensive project as Barryroe?

Steel, that report is 2014 - a lot of water under the bridge since then. The offer on the table surely takes into account the appraisal well that is planned. T5's raison d'etre is based on foreign fields so I just don't get that as a possibility. Your view on MFDevCo being the suitor ?

1cag - the appraisal farmout proposition was put rather succinctly way back when, though times have moved on and on. Securing capital through to first oil may require compromise and pride swallowing!

Steel €30m is insignificant unless some of it was used to buy out LOGP
