SL has too many obstacles, it's too high risk for a company so leveraged to the OP, and with debt up to its eyeballs....

....but you're right, who would buy it!....just back burner it for now and focus on Catcher, Tolmout & Zama

Buy PMO for the long term.I would like to see Sealion sold. What is the point of spending £1.5b on a field that is going to cost $45 per barrel to get out the ground.I say sell, but I am not certain there would be to many buyers.

Do the Maths Upside / downside potential on each and take your choice. Be a Robot not a human for 5 minutes and you will make the best choice.

Hi Fitton,

I doubt if majors are interested in tiddlers like this.

But maybe a National Oil Company would be interested.

Like KNOC who took over Dana....

Steve - based on the diagrams, there will be three separate wells.

Zama-1, the discovery well, was at the centre of the field.
Zama-2 will be at the bottom end, while Zama-3 will be at the top.

Given the distance between them, I'd be reluctant to assume that they would drill faster to save 10 days at the risk of encountering problems that could cost them months. To me, the risk/reward profile doesn't make sense.

Since this is a follow-up drill as opposed to a first penetration of a virgin (area), it could be a little faster.

The previous well would have been very carefully drilled, to be sure there were no shallow gas pockets, or other potential problems. Depending what they found, and how it compared to seismic, they may be able to drill this one a little quicker.. perhaps save around 1/3 or more on drilling time.. and I'm assuming they'll be set-up for some additional testing as well.

Once they reach oil at 10k/ft, they'll first collect data from Zama-2, then go down to 14k/ft to test Marte, and then come back up to main bore hole and drill a secondary branch to do a drill stem test. They expect that entire process to complete early Q2, hence the two-month gap between hitting oil and getting the results.

I would hope that they release information sooner, but that's the question I'm asking: should we expect them to? Will they release information on the initial data collection prior to going further down to Marte, or will they wait until the end of the drill stem test?

Why do you think 2 months for Xmas 2 results? More like a week or 2

Zama may be spudding this week, but when should we anticipate some news from it?

The Zama-1 well took 41 days to reach 10k/ft depth where they found oil, and I believe they're using the same rig for appraisal as they did for discovery, so I make the assumption that it will take a similar duration for the Zama-2, therefore we should hear that they've reached oil in early January. They'll continue drilling down to Marte to also assess that.

The Zama-2 well should be finished testing in early Q2'19, and Zama-3 should complete the appraisal programme in Q3'19.

So my expected timeline is as follows:
This week: Zama-2 Spudded
Early Jan: Zama-2 Reached Oil
April: Findings from Zama-2 / Zama-3 Spudded
Jul-Sep: Findings from Zama-3 / Final Appraisal Report.

In between those events, should we anticipate other updates?

Yep, buy signal and shorts closing out. Given not a particularly large % increase in PoO will be interesting to see share price reaction on any announcement of cuts!First time I've seen shorttracker show a reduction for a while!
