dont want to distract polo holders here but youre misleading many if you claim that you didnt say it (cdn) was going much higher. i have copied some examples of your posts from a few weeks ago in which you said just that. i told you at the time that the price/volume would tell you if a bid at a significant premium was on its way, the price pattern for months has been indicating no chance of a bid, let alone at a substantial premium.
You became very hostile and suggested i was completely wrong and you had twenty years experience to prove it. Well, wheres this phantoim 145p bid? and in twenty years, how many companies have you seen attracting a 250% premium to the previous close. just name me one or two, bet you cannot cos they dont exist. so why did you think cdn would be a first? bids of 30% premium are good, 50% v good, anything above v rare, and above 100% v v rare, and you were talking 250%. twenty minutes in the market, let alone twenty years would tell you that.

The FACT is that no-one has ever made any money on a long term, consistent, basis simply by following "price action". You stick to your strategy, I'll stick to mine, which has shown me good returns over more than 20 years.

ELBAN,

Fair point, but my view is that the return here could be very much larger than 25% from the current price. If I felt that that was all the upside then I would tend to agree with you. However, I am hopeful of a sale price north of US$500m (>145p), considering total resources of 750MT and prospective Cook/Minyango combined production of > 3MTpa.

I made no claim that such a bid would happen - but I did state that it was a realistic possibility. And I still think it is. However, Caledon's management are further from proving that they can deliver on their promises than I had expected them to be by this time, so I am less optimistic.

My investment case for Caledon was/is not simply based on the possibility of a bid but on my view that Cook & Minyango are valuable assets - though their value is still to be proven. Polo is also of the view that they're worth more than the current market cap, FWTW (and, of course, "they would say that").

Nothing has been proven yet on "who was right". And I most certainly don't make any claims of always being right. I don't recollect you posting anything of much value. It is up to each individual to decide how to interpret any post.

What I would encourage everyone to do is to separate OPINION from VERIFIABLE FACTS. Posters' opinion is just that and shouldn't be given too much weight. Look at the facts & make your own mind up. No-one is responsible for anyone else's investment decisions - unless giving advice - which I never do.

what happened to your 140p bid for cdn. told you few weeks ago when you made that wild claim that you were setting yourself and your followrs up for a fall.

you should be more responsible since you know there is nil chance of cdn getting a 250% or whatever premium, in fact theres not much chance of any bid, at least not above 65p imo.

i said it then and you criticised me. look who was right then.

Good one Mark - thanks for that. I liked the write up so much I topped up this morning - 107k (shares). I also think Polo has been oversold recently and with Caledon and GCM about to pop (well it would be nice after what is rather a long wait) then I can see this going up a fair bit. I do still have some CDN but I must admit that I reduced my position somewhat after the last quarterly report.

I wasn't negative about GCM - just didn't want to invest to them due to the politics. However, I do feel somewhat reassured on that point by Neil's remarks.

Look forward to hearing what you learn about GCM at their AGM.

Cheers,

Mark

Mark,
Great report as always. Two questions:
1) are you happy to still hold CDN;
2) previously you've been negative towards GCM and Phulbari - is that still the case. I'm going to the AGM on 7-Dec and definitely interested to see what they have to say.

Was there any indication of a timetable for TSX? It would be rather interesting if this were in the ISAble part of TSX.

Thanks Mark.

Interesting about the TSX listing. I wonder whether a reverse stock split might be an idea at the same time. Canadian punters really won't go for anything with 2bn shares out.

Thank you very much for taking the time and effort, not only to attend, but to write up your conclusions of the AGM in such a readable fashion.

Much appreciated!

Sold the bulk of my holding back in October but bought more than my original holding back today. Most of the trades showing as sells are in fact buys as mine of just over 214K at 4.351 was in fact a buy.

Look forward to seeing the RNS(s) tomorrow to see who bought all those shares near the end of the day. Interesting times.
