Yes still ignoring short term swings - what a stupid question and another one for the filter! I really couldn't care less about a few pence drop in the share price, as confident this will be meaningfully higher in the next year or two (unless we see a general market sell off in the US, but no sign of that yet).

Is this due to St James Place sliding 25% and cutting divi?

Honestly I wouldn't look at short term price movements - come back in a few months and as long as the tech rally remains intact this should do fine. Market probably just need confirmation that AUM has increased to kick-start this.

Based on the trading volume of the past 2 days would say its been a stage managed drop in share price to an agreed seller/buyer price, could be more to come...look out for late reported trades later. ...

@galeforce1. Don't forget that, as a hybrid, M&G is a very different beast. A big slug of its dividend should be viewed in the same way that we view the dividends of Phoenix Group and Chesnara. M&G's div may not grow very much but I'd say it's a lot more stable/lot less vulnerable to open-ended outflows than the likes of POLR. (I hold all four.)

In which case the shareprice will eventually recover and the dividend will be maintained, automatically resulting in a more normal % yield.

They have lots of cash and appear to be very committed to dividend, so think would only be cut if AUM continues to fall and doesn't recover for a couple of years. The opposite seems to be happening - AUM should be up nicely this year - so not too concerned on that front. You're right that active managers are under pressure given the rise of passives, although I think POLR have quite a distinctive niche and good long term performance, which should insulate them to a degree.

Disappointing share price performance here, which maybe anticipates a cut in the current very generous dividend. But the AUM must be rising with the global rise in stocks. Also, POLR have some very useful niches in tech and healthcare. So I think there could be some upside here.
POLR seems to be caught in the market's negative view of the active asset management business generally. The market sees the whole sector as a value trap. M&G is also yielding about 9%.

Have a feeling this is purely a technical drop, I'm not into TA but it feels like they want it here technically before it goes back up....dyor

The "market" does like the odd "flush out weak holders event" though as we know...yesterday afternoon felt like one of those....

It's frustrating but will keep adding when funds allow, agree its hard to fathom at present...the 10 year yields need to go into reverse again though, that would help, they have been rising again of late...

Share price action completely out of whack with the rally in tech and healthcare (their 2 largest asset classes). PCT up 13% YTD, PCGH up 10%. Also reports that funds (with the exception of UK equity funds) are seeing good inflows this year. Yet POLR down 8%. I think this is a huge mispricng and been adding. Remember, POLR is operationally geared so every 1% increase in AUM should lead to at least a 2% rise in earnings.

All the Polar trusts have been doing very well of late - PCGH, PCFT, PCT - I'd be very surprised if Polar funds generally aren't attracting new investors

This is on AIM remember....the trading today looks unusual for this stock but it appears the drop turned when that 80 odd k of shares were traded at around 15.33 Maybe it was walked down to accommodate it?

About that director selling: Finance Director sold a small amount (6786 / £30k) which looks like it might just be some LTIPs that(p83 of 2022 AR)have a latest vesting date of 11 July 2024. Probably wants to make use of his CGT allowance before it halves again.

More curious is that the FD doesn't appear to hold many shares at all (page 84). Two non-execs hold more shares than the FD.

Worrying drop there, Director selling, doesn't bode well. Let's hope we stay above 400p, my stop loss.

Interesting late drop considering the tech trust is up more than 3.5% up. So will the tech fund, and AI fund in a similar state.

Appreciate there’s outflows in the U.K. value and European sectors but I would have thought there would be some positive momentum today.

Maybe but the "market" seems to be dropping the share price on any nervousness in the market but not allowing it to rise into good news or when the markets been reassured, as was the case last night in the US. Appears to be manipulated at will, by small auto bot trades, frustrating as it not volume related at all
