 Liberum: Plus500 set up for a positive 2025
Contracts for difference trading platform Plus500 (PLUS) enjoyed a strong end to 2024 that has increased Liberum’s confidence in its prospects for this year.
Analyst James Allen retained his ‘buy’ recommendation and target price of £30.95 on the Citywire Elite Companies A-rated stock, which was up 1% at £26.62 on Monday afternoon after full-year revenues for 2024 came in ahead of market expectations and news that it had secured a new licence in the UAE.
Earnings were in line with expectations but strong customer acquisition activity in the fourth quarter delivered the most new customer additions since the second quarter of 2021.
‘We increase our full-year 2024 Ebitda by 1% and, while we leave outer years unchanged, the obtention of two new licences already in 2025 should provide confidence on outlook,’ said Allen.
He is expecting net cash to be around $900m for the year, which is in line with the previous year despite $361m of announced shareholder returns over the year.
Allen noted the strength of the company’s cashflow and shareholder returns versus peers, ‘reinforcing our positive view on the shares’. |
Equally happy with that approach. I have been scratching my head for a few years now regarding the valuation here with the net cash but i suppose when i began head scratching we were about 900p |
Rimau1, there’s no rush for a secondary listing on the Nasdaq. Far better to be patient and conduct a further $200m+ of share buy back during 2025 and list sometime after March 2026. |
Plus500US is the brand and provides options and futures for equities, crypto, fx, metals, interest rates etc i think we bought a small operation to give is the initial licences and infrastructure. I think we concentrate on retail clients but i'm sure we would allow a corporate offering. Feels like we are gaining huge transaction and my hope is that we go for a US listing soon for a better valuation. Japan is the other big area of growth. Enjoying the long term ride here. |

I am happy with that update-ahead of expectations & the new ICE membership in the US together with a new licence in UAE should help our growth story.I assume we will continue with our buy back & divi policy as our cash position is unchanged despite spending over $300mill in 2024.The 2025 Outlook statement ,when released, will hopefully provide an expectation of further growth this year underpinning our share price & perhaps, at some stage, allowing a re rating towards the multiple given to IGG & , of course, there remains the possibility of a dual listing in the US to increase our profile there as our US business continues to gain traction. |

Market clearly underwhelmed by Directors awarding themselves substantial numbers of shares out of Treasury-which I dont have a problem with if our Senior Management Team continue to exceed expectations .Buys outweighed sells & perhaps more of our shares were bought back today than the average ( around 26k shares per day)& the soon to be published trading update will vindicate their awards. |
