05/10/2021 11:20 | ... would depend on the existing zoning, of course in an industrial area they probably wouldn't allow flats but phps might allow offices btw, if built offices & PTD moved to the edge of town (where land is normally cheaper) then the total number of jobs for Yeovil would increase, not decrease. ----- update my mistake, it is roughly at the edge of town already. although yes, it's location is perhaps now more valuable than it was, with a sizeable shopping thing on the other side of the road, which looks like it has various shops including a farmers' outlet & a builders' merchant for the public, & Costa Coffee (& a McDonalds now ?; & has Costa Coffee been re-branded after Whitbread sold it ?) & right on an A road & a short walk to a train station & very handy for the golf course ! :-) | smithie6
05/10/2021 10:45 | Good point S - I doubt the council would allow the change as it provides work in the area. Disappointing to see the lack of support for the stock after such a positive outlook statement. | clocktower
05/10/2021 10:26 | if the site is inside the town then phps there is money to be made by moving to the edge of town, & modernise the layout of the factory at the same time ('if' the existing site was re-built with say 3 levels (commercial, offices, homes) & also underground parking, the site would have a much higher value than what PTD paid for it) land values must be sky high at the moment since apartment prices are at an all time high, but perhaps there is no permission for homes on that site & use is phps restricted to commercial or offices. | smithie6
05/10/2021 09:59 | I checked on google maps just now S, and if you take a look the scale is at the foot of the page, so you can see how large a site it is. They only purchased the site back a few years ago but the value must have increased substantially since then and I notice the google map is showing the MacD site also now. | clocktower
04/10/2021 19:04 | land/property value interesting do you happen to know how many m2 it is ? | smithie6
04/10/2021 15:25 | Nice perks S - but then if the main shareholder is happy he must have thought it better to see the BoD rewarded well, rather than risk them leaving what looked like a sinking ship because it had previously been mired in debt to the hilt. They clearly are working their way out of the debt situation, slowly though it maybe but they are clearly on top of it with the outlook getting better it should drop considerably in the next 18 months imo. Unlike some, I think it is a very safe bet with good assets, including the Yeovil Tannery which they bought back a while ago. The site itself must have gone up considerably in value, and if you google it, you will see there is a huge amount of space for car parking, some of that could be built upon, with parking below for the factory staff. With McDonalds opening, (not sure if it is yet)which it was reported they objected too on the grounds of traffic, but they had permission to convert the opposite building to a MacD I seem to remember, the land value must have shot up as well. Maybe someone that might follow the thread can advise us of the situation regarding MacD. | clocktower
04/10/2021 14:41 | dividend cost. £65k bonus to the dirs. £840k !! | smithie6
04/10/2021 13:32 | If the company were now to start buying more shares once again, to hold in treasury I expect the share price would soon reach 80p as there seems to be so few in free float. | clocktower
04/10/2021 10:24 | Hi S Todays trades are providing someone with the chance to get in at a decent price or the big holder to add to his formidable holding again, for long term growth. The dividend should give confidence with more to come next time around I guess, now that it is back on the right road. I still feel a bid might come at any time, hence the BoD get that 10% to give some level of protection, unless the bid was top end imo. | clocktower
01/10/2021 14:45 | ...I agree with you that best not to look too much at the hourly/daily price moves ---- lots of ways to play it if one is sitting on a nice profit one way is a trailing stop loss, say 15% below the 10 day moving average | smithie6
01/10/2021 12:56 | I think one had to expect to see a number of sells, being a Friday and a bit of profit taking, As I know some that have twitching fingers, as soon as they see a profit of more than 15/20% who then sell and often miss out on the real rewards that this type of stock is likely to offer up to the wise longer term investor, Still, that gives others the chance to make a decent profit over six to nine months, and then review their position. | clocktower
01/10/2021 12:31 | I agree with the way you post both positive and negatively to debate a stock S. I think we may well see the bed rocking with more customers getting their share of the skin.😊 | clocktower
01/10/2021 11:16 | I have various negative views but I also sometimes make negative posts on other shares I hold I want to be aware of all the pros & cons, not just the pros. ---- still holding sitting on a nice profit (& made the mistake to half my position X weeks ago due to the troubles in Ethiopia) but the risk/reward is still in favour of holding, from my viewpoint biggest holder has added recently --- Have I changed my views about the execs. or giving the bod. 10% of the company without any real perf. target, while the owners of the co. are given basically nothing in terms of a handout. (is the divi < 1% ?, nothing) ? uh, no | smithie6
01/10/2021 09:23 | Seems to me that the MM are making buys look like sells by pushing up the bid.DYOR | clocktower
01/10/2021 08:50 | MM gained a fair amount of stock yesterday, having looked at all the recent trades and are now keeping the bid low while pushing up the offer on little volume. It is going to take a lot more buying to get this to settle well over 70p so we may see that after we get the tipsters pointing out the recovery story and how tightly the stock is held with so few in free float. Have a good weekend S if you’re still around or maybe you have already sold and moved into something else as you were always understandably a bit negative, in view of past history and the stock. | clocktower
30/9/2021 16:50 | So the biggest holder is a buyer today and that really it a boost as the company previously said that a number of large holders were effectively insiders. However now that the results have been released he is able to add to his huge holding. | clocktower
30/9/2021 16:15 | Decent volume and good support seems to have set its base price now, so I expect the next move will be up. Should be a very good week next week for holders and new buyers imo DYOR | clocktower
30/9/2021 15:38 | Thanks baner but we shall see. The sales have however taken the wind out my sails but at least there was support at 65p | clocktower
30/9/2021 15:32 | To assume that Pittards old excess Leather stock can be compared with having gold bars…… | baner
30/9/2021 15:32 | I guess that some ladies of the night might call that short up & back down spike "a quickie" !? | smithie6
30/9/2021 08:58 | You see a few weak holders selling as expected but the MM are keeping the spread wide. | clocktower
30/9/2021 08:35 | Stock is like a cushion, that can be used when times are hard baner, it is not only about selling it. If you had gold bars stored in your safe, would you consider that to be anything other than another security ? I like profitable companies that hold high stock levels. The outlook is positive and this company has been so undervalued for almost 10 months, as I have been saying when I started the tread. If you purchased stock then you would be sitting on a decent profit and doing so now will, I expect benefit you in the same manner but DYOR. | clocktower |
