At some point buyers will return to the likes of PTR, now nearly 2 weeks into the conflict, the market has surely priced in risk.

I very much doubt from a operational perspective much has changed for Petroneft, all the on ground employees are Russian, the oil price is at record highs, PTR oil is sold in USD also.

No news from the company, anything material would have to be reported, worth remembering the company is Irish registered and dual listed.

Fair play to you for having the balls to increase your holding X6 here, but even China will shun their oil and gas if as expected Putin continues down the path of the destruction of Ukrainian cities and deaths of innocent civilians. There's no quick fix with this situation as Putin is deluded and will carry on regardless. That's why this stock is cheap and not back to 3-4p but I wish you all the luck in the world.

I'd be surprised if this is still trading next week tbh with the way Russia continue to escalate their war NOT 'special operation' against Ukraine. No one wants Russian oil and gas right now.

500,000 shares on offer right now for £5k - would have cost nearly £25k in January.

Seen a few Twitter & BB commentaries about folk starting to tip their toes back into a few Russian plays based on the possibility of a ceasefire, these stocks being a total binary play and hideously oversold.

Remember there are punters who love high risk and will splash their cash accordingly, IF there was any resolution or serious diplomatic effort Russian stocks will fly higher.

It looks like a very large % of Petroneft stock is owned by Russian entities which should be reassuring to shareholders in the current environment.

Directors own 27% and PTR's major shareholder is Natlata Partners (a Russian entity) separately own a further 25%.

One has to assume operations are unaffected simply because if there was a change in circumstances the Nomad would insist on a statement, PTR looks materially oversold and this presents an opportunity for risk adverse types.

They are raking cash in currently due to high oil prices.

Management can't say anything because they no longer know. EUA is not an oil company, so hasn't come under any sanctions. It's Russian energy that is the target. No doubt Russia will be taking back their own oil assets from western ownership. Majors, like BP, Shell, Exxon, Equinor, have written them off anyway.

What would people expect management to say? Something along the lines of:

"Operations have not been impacted by the Russian-Ukraine conflict, and from here at our headquarters in Ireland (note not part of NATO), we wish for a peaceful resolution between our great Russian and Ukrainian friends".

I actually think PTR should be ok.

EUA reassuring statement today - I cannot see any material effect on PTR operations, they seem to sell all their oil locally, have a mainly Russian workforce, local management + some Russian directors.

If sentiment returns or sense prevails in the Ukraine then this is a multi bag opportunity.

Bet the market makers will not sell many shares at current levels either.

Hi to all lth,

Have had a good positive run with this stock in few stints over last decade.

Just waiting to exit very small pos at the right time, so small happy to leave in the drawer…last few years was hoping the turnaround would gain traction and it did…

-I agree, very surprised no RNS from BOD quite shambolic tbh

-vol is still not indicative for the drop so I assume something is going on maybe asset sale? Big seller whom can’t sell? Or even a fund raise?

-is this the end game? Or have the Bod got the balls to fire sale and move on and sell up RTO to buy asset outside Russia and focus on another country. Russia is basically unworkable to do business.

Hope you all the best, keep in the drawer hope it’s a complete exit from russia.

Rather surprised the BOD has not sent out a reassuring type RNS like EUA has done recently, the weak Rouble means that PTR's costs have reduced significantly in country.

Cash operating costs are only circa $10 a barrel for Petroneft, Russian Domestic Crude is at all time highs, Petroneft is raking in cash it would appear.

Risk adverse types could double/treble their money here (and other Russian oil plays) in quick time if sentiment improves.

You need to understand how the Russians work. If they want to take oil fields off you they will. I don't think a British company owning oil fields in Russia is a good idea right now.

Fact is the financials at PTR could not be in better health, debt reduced to a trickle, oil prices at record highs, nearby oilfields surrounded by the likes of Gazprom and other majors makes PTR a bid target.

The current share price is a buy one get one free scenario, no wonder there have been some chunky buyside trades today.

Ain't gonna happen. Putin will likely be removed in the coming weeks as even his own allies are starting to turn against him. They massively underestimated firstly just how fierce the Ukrainian resistance is ( didn't take into account the huge numbers of the public there prepared to fight alongside the Ukrainian army plus their colossal fire power and skills built up over last 10yrs and the huge scale of weaponry and financial assistance being offered by other states)

Bought some at 1.28p today

The main threat here is if Putin takes back Russian oil fields from western interests, aswell as from UK banning British company interests in Russian oil.

I have bought some this morning, Petroneft has always sold it's oil locally and are such a small company no-one would really notice them, they are also benefitting from very high oil prices.

The shares will recover IMO, down from 4.85p in January, getting harder to buy in reasonable size which is a clue the worst may be over.
