PCFL / Index: AIM / Sector: Speciality & other finance

Private & Commercial Finance Group plc ('PCFG' or 'the Group')

Acquisition

Private & Commercial Finance Group plc, the AIM quoted finance house, is pleased to announce that it has completed the acquisition of a GBP6 million portfolio of receivables comprising 2,300 hire purchase agreements financing motor vehicles ('the Portfolio') from North Herts Credit Company Limited ('the Vendor').

The consideration for the acquisition of the Portfolio is GBP4.5 million in cash. The acquisition increases the Group's portfolio of receivables to GBP110 million and will positively impact FY 2012 turnover by approximately GBP2.4 million.

Scott Maybury, CEO of PCFG commented: "This transaction, which is earnings-enhancing, is another step in our strategy to actively grow the Group's portfolio. We are on the lookout for future acquisitions and ideally these would be of a comparable size and for leasing or hire purchase assets suitable for our business finance division."

Have just compared the actual results with this brokers note from Dec 2010

It seems PCF are a little behind schedule compared with the note, but not doing that badly. Target 14p per share.

Would be nice to see a dividend though.

Results seem very up-beat. NAV per share up to 15p and profit before tax of 0.8p

Trading statement out today:

Pre tax profit of £450,000 compared with £530,000 last year, which is OK in my opinion. p/e about 9. Steering a steady course with no dramas, and exceptions must be for a big improvement as things get back to normal with the money markets.

Trading statement issued last year on 29 April, so with luck not long for some news to liven things up.

mafia,
this is a bit like the film 'Cars' when McQueen trundles into Radiator Springs and the other vehicles don't know what to do or say.

What brings you round these parts?

My tuppence :-

Plus points:
PCF have really good management, they know their core business really well (as long as they don't diversify).

They have a sound risk process for lending money.

They are below asset value.

Minus point:
They can't get access to cheap funds in order to expand their business.

Hi mafia,

There obviously are people here. Two posted yesterday as you can see. Perhaps you could help by sharing why you are looking at PCF and what it is that you can't get you head around. Have you read the broker's note as linked above and if so what did you think?

Gentlemen,

The fact is that money lenders have never had it as favourable as right now. The banks have given up making any effort at all and the collateral cover on safe loans yielding 15%+ p.a. is terrific. PCF has, at long last, everything going for it - including management who are determined to get it right. One year from now PCF might be on a PE of 1 on an underlying rate of profits assessment. I grant you that such an assessment is subjective.
