28/10/2016 17:28 | Was hesitant to write this for fear of looking like I'm trying to make Go Figure look like a cure all product but I decided what the hell.. I have suffered with heartburn for the last two years or so to the point where I have been taking up to a box of gaviscon daily, but since I've been on the shakes I haven't used it once and haven't had any heartburn at all. According to the wife I also have a lot more energy than I used to... Apparently I have done the dishes more in the last month than she has ever seen:( | 1bokke
28/10/2016 16:50 | Looking a bit grim for IPO "spin-offs". That chart has formed the perfect "rolling top". Lower highs and lower lows. Ramping and pointless RNS's having a negative impact on the share price 40p soon my friends. Have a spooky Halloween!!!!!!!!!! | michaelmouse
28/10/2016 16:00 | Bile salt hydrolases (BSHs) catalyze the ‘‘gatewa wider pathway of bile acid modification by the gut microbiota. Because bile acids function as signaling molecules regulating their own biosynthesis, lipid absorption, cholesterol homeostasis, and local mucosal defenses in the intestine, microbial BSH activity has the potential to greatly influence host physiology. However, the function, distribution, and abundance of BSH enzymes in the gut community are unknown. Here, we show that BSH activity is a conserved microbial adaptation to the human gut environment with a high level of redundancy in this ecosystem. Through metagenomic analyses we identified functional BSH in all major bacterial divisions and archaeal species in the gut and demonstrate that BSH is enriched in the human gut microbiome. Phylogenetic analysis illustrates that selective pressure in the form of conju- gated bile acid has driven the evolution of members of the NtnCGH-like family of proteins toward BSH activity in gut-asso- ciated species. Furthermore, we demonstrate that BSH mediates bile tolerance in vitro and enhances survival in the murine gut in vivo. Overall, we demonstrate the use of function-driven met- agenomics to identify functional anchors in complex microbial communities, and dissect the gut microbiome according to activi- ties relevant to survival in the mammalian gastrointestinal tract. | elrico
28/10/2016 15:55 | On reflection on post 16948. I guess there is correlation between using GoFigure and healthier eating habit and sleep. Before GF my typical routine before bed, would be toast or biscuits. The latter worse still...sugar before bed! Now no snacks, period. Now my typical 3 hours (good night) are more like 6 hours. Way below what should be the normal 8...but great for me. | elrico
28/10/2016 15:44 | Hey dogwalker, the last I read about was Canadian research, not Swedish which made timid mice more inquisitive and less anxious. To be honest there are so many studies out there, quite often with conflicting findings, it is difficult to draw conclusions. And most are a long long way away from commercial health applications. I had an email exchange with prof Glen Gibson (he is on the Optibiotix SAG) at Reading University about some work he is doing on gut microbiome and autism. But it is very early days on that as well. If you are interested in the mood/depression/anxi | mouse20
28/10/2016 15:43 | Point 2 from SOH's email to someuwin on weds:2. We have some great science now which demonstrates the mechanism of action of our strain and how it acts in the gut. This creates multiple product opportunities in cardiovascular health (cholesterol, blood pressure) but also in other areas which are linked to this mechanism (bile salt hydrolase activity). If investors look this up they will see it has been linked to weight loss, diabetes, and areas including stress, anxiety, sleep disorders. I always thought cognitive health could be a whole new application area for OPTI. I remember it being mentioned by SOH and Jim Laird at one of the investor shows earlier this year. | parob
28/10/2016 15:34 | That's v interesting, Siennadelekat21 & elrico : there's an extra energy 'kicker', which seems separate from, & before even, any weight loss. Presumably it'll be a quite different strain , if ever, to directly target mood & hence personality, but the potential for it may exist with any of these previously under-studied bacteria. Hence the interest in that earlier animal test result. Thanks. | dogwalker
28/10/2016 15:16 | Yep dog walker, For me it was the hike up in energy level I experienced first (felt within just a few days of starting the shakes) and then the weight loss kicked in thereafter : )Sienna | siennadelekat21
28/10/2016 15:16 | Next week around the 3rd/4th could be interesting | john henry
28/10/2016 15:09 | Dogwalker - ref GoFigure. I know 5 people owning up to using the products as a weighloss regime. A couple more whom are not owning up to it :-) As far as I can tell, all claim to hit their target weight or very close after 6-8 weeks. They are typically c20lb overweight, so nothing really major. All seem very surprised at energy levels being much better than they expected. One or two are finding giving up chocolate vise or wine as a bit if an task, but not hindering progress. Myself and the wife are maintaining our weight on a shake and or bar twice daily. I'm sleeping much better. I don't think this has anything to do with slimbiome. Perhaps I was more concerned with my weight than I thought and now I ain't. I should add. I am still overweight by BMI but, I just don't want to go below 68kilos. I was 82 kilos in June, if my grey matter recalls. | elrico
28/10/2016 14:59 | Any news on the 'mouse demeanor' front, mouse20? That's to say, on the mood altering side effects of gut bacteria manipulation which we heard about a few months ago? It was a Swedish lot, I think, who published something about it. No particular reason why you would know of course. I was just reminded of it, & you take the trouble to keep up with the academic backdrop here, it seems. On the same note, I wonder if anyone taking the GoFigure product has felt any different - other than thinner of course. | dogwalker
28/10/2016 14:03 | Thank you mouse - interesting! Best wishes - Mike | spike_1
28/10/2016 13:41 | Catherine O'Neill is one of the UOM academics involved (and a shareholder)in Skinbiotix. She recently published a paper on the gut-skin axis. Below is a little extract - sounds promising for the future. "The management of skin disease in the future may include manipulation of gut function. Treatments that augment or repair a leaky gut barrier could become important as adjuvant therapy in the management of inflammatory skin diseases and may help to increase the efficacy of standard dermatotherapy. Such treatments could work through manipulation of the gut microbiota or through direct effects on the gut epithelium using dietary agents or selected natural/synthetic components." | mouse20

28/10/2016 13:28 | JJ I hold hundred of thousands of shares. It's not possible to trade that holding.( investment) however I do trade 20-30k when the opportunity arises. | john henry
28/10/2016 13:25 | Lol....someone has a quick draw alert...elrico has posted. 15 seconds was it! | elrico
28/10/2016 13:21 | Perhaps Seneca have Michael Knighton in mind. He nearly bought Manu for £10m a couple of decades ago. Fund Managers can be as daft as the rest of us. I remember watching a BBC documentary (million $ traders? 2008) themed on a fund manager putting a team of lay people from different backgrounds that had no experience of buying never mind trading shares. I think there were 8 people. The fund had a £2m of cash slit between the 8 and they had to research and trade on the back of their own knowledge. This was over a 6 week period at the height of the crash in 2008. The fund manager himself admitted he faired a little better then a basket of funds in this period, he lost 1.5% of the funds value. 3 other the contestants beat the fund manager and of course the basket cases, by 1.25%, -0.75% and -0.50. I think it's still available on YouTube. | elrico
28/10/2016 13:20 | But you were advising people to do what you suggested see below) "The trend will be broken eventually. Until then trade the downward band) Aimho Now your saying your not doing this?? | judijudi
28/10/2016 12:49 | As a trader makes perfect sense, however big news is well over due and I wouldn't want to miss the demerger and the opportunity of obtaining stock in skin. | john henry
28/10/2016 12:39 | JH, Makes sound sense for you to sell at 69p and buy back at 57p then | judijudi
28/10/2016 12:39 | The 50 average is the big resistance within this 12 month downtrend. Until that line is broken and held, price will continue its trend. The trend will be broken eventually. Until then trade the downward band. Aimho | john henry
28/10/2016 12:32 | "Local businessmen Ian Battersby and Ian Currie were reported to have made an investment proposal through their company Seneca Partners in May, but Venky's denied receiving a bid and said they were committed to the club." Is this why Seneca were so keen to sell? BTW, it refers to Blackburn Rovers.......are they insane???? | fozdad
28/10/2016 12:30 | 100% agree John Henry | mazzstar
28/10/2016 12:26 | Trading pattern would indicate moving back towards the 50 EMA around 69-70p before heading back done testing around 57p. Ultimate support may come in around 55p.Only solid non jam news will stop the current trend imho. | john henry
28/10/2016 10:27 | Experienced broker will know when to dump stock and when to hold back. | john henry |
