Thanks for linking that article Judy Judy.
As a result, I rattled off an email to him as below. Hope that I've done the right thing:
Dear Dr Mosley,
I hold you in high regard after all the research you have done and your interesting TV programmes.
I used your 5:2 diet to lose about a stone and a half, a few years back.
Lately though, I've come across the GoFigure range of snack bars and meal replacement shakes.
What's unique is that they include a strain of microbiome to help you to feel fuller for longer, as well as being full of good nutrients,to help people lose weight.

Might be worth a look.

No 'increase' in calories.
So still the same calorie count no reduction and no additional functional ingredients.

No new interview.

Maybe one on the back of deals expected in the very near future. Watch this space...

Helping chocolate-lovers to manage their sugar intake better, the new bar has been two years in the making. Our team of scientists, nutritionists and chocolatiers have been working away to achieve the much-loved Cadbury taste, with 30% less sugar, no increase in calories, and absolutely no artificial sweeteners.

The science behind the bar
With their understanding of flavour technologies and material science, our development team have successfully replaced the physical functionality of sugar with fibre, preserving the structure of the chocolate and the unique texture of Cadbury Dairy Milk!

Sez it all.

Cargill Dsm JV is anything but a blow. Visibly highlights the corporates rapidly moving into this space. This space is the hottest anywhere right now due to regulations introduced due to health issues caused by sugar. Opti hits two birds with one stone with something that not only replaces sugar content with fibre it increases overall health (I have been told they can actually manipulate the chains in such a way to selectively produce either Butyrate or propionate, again linking back to the modulation of the microbiome opening up vast opportunities beyond simple sugar alternatives). This is absolutely game changing. If anything that JV sets the scene for Sweetbiotix because what they currently have isn't anywhere as good. We know Opti work with DSM very closely due to Gareth Barker the Vice President of Nutrition for DSM on Optis board as well as previous development deals with DSM. Cargill was rumoured to be the 100bn turnover manufacturing partner signed last year for Sweetbiotix. If that is true it is highly likely Opti could actually fit in to this new JV. There will be increasing tie ups in this area for the foreseeable future as the industry transitions. Opti have the right product in the right space at the right time. After securing the IP they now have to commercialise it in a way that will not limit the opportunity. They do this by having separate manufactures for high intensity sweetener & bulk sugar products & then a number of application partners like the multi bn dairy company. Fred will be instrumental in building this commercially with his contacts.

I genuinely think senility is part of the equation for rayrac too..... I have had him on filter for months which is bliss but from a previous exchange of personal messages, he is incapable of a coherent rational argument and is all over the place. I knew him from before years ago, when he was coherent and rational....so senility seems to have set in recently.

Sad really...

Belgrano, as there is no manufacturing deal for Sweetbiotix in place I don’t know how can Cadbury’s be using Sweetbiotix.

I doubt it. 30% less sugar but broadly the same calorie content? Sounds like a big difference to a calorie free prebiotic fibre that increases production of short chan fatty acids like propionate & butyrate. As we know these are linked to a range of health promoting functions. Happily be wrong but no mention of any of this in the articles which is what makes sweetbiotix totally unique.Whole different league to these other sugar alternatives coming out with no functionality. Sweetbiotix is not just a sugar replacement it is functional sweetener, nothing like it on the market. The functionality is why Sweetbiotix is market leading not just because it is calorie free sweetener.

If it were Opti’s sweatener, then you can bet Cadbury would have been put into the header!

I think you are stretching it a bit belgrano2, or clutching at straws.

Cadbury's launch their new range this year with 30% less sugar. Strong possibility that its our sweetbiotix fibres .
They wont declare exact ingredients, but huge similarities with our own...in fact cant define any difference yet.
will then be extended to many other popular products.

There will not be many companies that can create calorie free customised oligosaccharides and manipulate them in such a way to specifically produce propionate & butyrate. This is game changing & way beyond what these corporates are bringing out. Therefore protection of this invaluable IP is fundamentally critical

The only way to stay scientifically & commercially ahead is to protect the IP. The Sweetbiotix patents were filed April 2018. Note how the 2x deals with big corporates followed after this. If they were to discuss with partners in great detail about the science before this date companies could simply copy the idea. Now they are fully protected, built science, hired a top commercial director they are now in a position to get it out there. Someone said earlier it's about the process & patience is required, so true. The major corporates have nothing on what Opti have which is becoming more evident as we start to see what these companies have been working on. https://www.nutraingredients.com/Article/2018/04/05/OptiBiotix-files-three-new-patents-for-SweetBiotix
