07/10/2014 08:13 | Share price 30% down in the past 3 months, 41.5% down since start of 2014. Down over 90% in past 3 years, 99.7% below where it was when renamed Optare, having fallen 6 years in a row. If it's any consolation, (which I don't suppose it is,) 79 companies' shares have fallen further in the past 3 years. This is where remaining holders sing 'I believe in miracles' (Ramones, Hot Chocolate, and others) I would love to see Optare pull out of its spiralling dive and turn this situation around. Can it yet happen? | m.t.glass
06/10/2014 20:08 | "..small buses..", plural. So two at least. (sad distinction, I know!) | m.t.glass
06/10/2014 19:38 | A bit more on Steve's find: "The buses will come in different sizes to fit different routes and requirements, including small buses manufactured by UK company Optare, medium-sized buses and the large (standard) buses manufactured by German company MAN." | m4rtinu
06/10/2014 19:31 | Would hope for some PR connected to recent bus show in Australia last week. Also, press were to get a ride in a Metro Decker (1-2nd Oct). SMMT figs for Sep out today. But detail as yet unaccessible. The data by size of bus are not encouraging. Only 8 registered in small bus category (8 - 12t) which is where most of the sales often come from! Hopefully, some from 12 - 16t. BTW - have sold my smallish holding at a loss. Wanted money to invest elsewhere, otherwise would have kept. Will keep an eye and may return. Ding, ding! | m4rtinu
06/10/2014 18:20 | Thanks Steve, good spot. Will be interesting to find out how many units we will be supplying. Unfortunately, no news from the company, something we PI's seem to be getting use to with Optare ! | bigbaddaz
06/10/2014 17:33 | Although no idea of the split Optare along with MAN have won an orders to supply 141 vehicles to Bahrain. So an order for between 1 and 140 | steve517499
03/10/2014 08:34 | Makes me shudder to recall how I poked £145k into this dung pile in 2009. Switched good profits from TAN into here and watched it go down to 3p odd before I woke up and sold the lot - massive loss. Could buy them all back for the price of nice week long stay in Greece - so will I? No way. RIP OPE. Ps Anyone remember the Sumner fanboys? | stud-muffin
30/9/2014 13:58 | Cougar they could sell 10, 20 50 buses to Australia and it would not make any signfifcant difference to the company's dire position of indebtedness. Other posters have convincingly estimated that £80 million or so annual turnover is minimum required to break even - on last estimates the order book was not half of that number. And breaking even is not sufficient given the tens of millions of pounds of debt the company is carrying IMHO. | jsbach123
27/9/2014 10:50 | well let's 'hope' they make money on the DD's they (expect to) sell in Australia - especially as the designed the width of the bus to Australian standards.... | cougar99
26/9/2014 09:17 | The link to the local press piece you posted 5028 Cougar said they cost more than 500,000 - just goes to show that you cannot trust all that you read in the Press. The answer to your question I think will be 'No they did not make a profit' as I expect the company (on the evidence of the year to date) will declare yet anotehr loss for this current financial year. | jsbach123
25/9/2014 16:19 | .... so the question is did they make a profit on selling six Solo SRs for 700,000 UKP ??? | cougar99
25/9/2014 16:16 | “Bus services around Bognor Regis have a very bright future.... Upgrading Stagecoach South’s fleet in Bognor Regis are six Solo SRs, supplied by Optare (08434 873200) and representing an investment of over £700,000. | cougar99
24/9/2014 14:31 | Cheers martini.I forgot where I read it but the reason they painted the metrdecker blue was to make it stand out from all the red London buses when it goes on extended operator trials in the capital. | bump3r
24/9/2014 14:27 | Don't know. Not clear from response. For some reason I took it to be UK but could be Aus. | m4rtinu
24/9/2014 09:54 | Will the Metrodecker ride and drive event be in Australia or the UK | bump3r
24/9/2014 09:48 | Thanks m4rtinu - I've asked the company if they would please consider routinely listing imminent events on the website. If they do so I'll include a link in the header and/or paste latest extracts from it. It is something that other companies do, and presumably increases attendance. | m.t.glass
24/9/2014 09:07 | Thanks 4M and congratulations on receiving a reply to an e-mail!😊 Cougar, I really had no idea that there is an Optare bus named Humbug, I hope it is not an omen! 😀 | kimoldfield
23/9/2014 19:41 | I understand that Optare will be at the following events in the near future: Australasia Bus and Coach, 28 Sept – 1 Oct, Gold Coast, 1st-2nd October MetroDecker press ride and drive, International Bus Expo in Rimini Fiera 9-11 Oct, Persontrafik 28-30 October 2014, Stockholm, and Eurobus 2014, Birmingham on 5-7 Nov. In reply to an e-mail I sent. | m4rtinu
12/9/2014 13:35 | so you could say it isn't Bah Humbug but it is Bus Humbug :-) | cougar99
12/9/2014 12:05 | and whilst on the subject of Optare and Humbugs then please be aware there is an Optare bus called Humbug (that has just arrived on the scene): perhaps we can get together and charter it for next years AGM.... | cougar99
11/9/2014 17:45 | Indeed JSB, though it is rumoured that she has been very busy over the past 2 days, apparently searching for a bag of humbugs that the CEO left behind before he attended the AGM! :o) | kimoldfield
11/9/2014 17:11 | Which might suggest to some Kim (thanks for the link) that the PR Manager and her boss have not quite got their priorities in the best order possible. | jsbach123
11/9/2014 16:15 | The video has now appeared on Optare's website. No RNS though! | kimoldfield |
