JSB, cougar - may be (hope it is) net £500,000 investment. Guess they may have got something for the (seven yr) old buses that the Solos replaced.

The interesting information for PIs contained in the Bognor piece (thanks for posting link Cougar) is that Optare supplied each bus at a price of less than £100,000. I wonder did they make a profit on fulfilling this order.

... and there was I thinking I was all alone on this thread.

“We carry a lot of mums with buggies and people with lots of shopping on our off-peak services in Bognor and have put the importance on their comfort rather than cramming more people in,” said Mr Dyer.

bit unusual that ... for the operating to give consideration to passengers over profits .... but then again the ever present 'Sunday issue' arises..... :
Felpham county councillor Graham Jones caught the Star to the launch from Elmer. “They are nice and comfortable,” he said. “There is also a good frequency for six days but it would be good to have buses on Sundays as well.”

The Only Way is Bognor :-)

BUS passengers on the busiest route around Bognor Regis are enjoying better vehicles.

The Optare Solo buses have the same capacity of seated passengers – 28 – as the previous buses but are slightly longer to provide more legroom.

And potentially disappointing news, from an article about First West Yorkshire plans. Why aren't they considering the new MetroDecker?

just drawling around so apologies if the following article has been posted before:

Two different quotes from article:

From Optare: "We have 45 vehicles in production for Australia .... "

From Patico: ".... Patico Automotive intends to have sold a Metrodecker, in customer livery, at the BusVic conference in 2015".

and an interesting pdf on that website about the Notts electric operation:

We have weekly conference calls with Optare (the electric bus manufacturer) to refine and develop the new technology these vehicles contain, as well as monthly meetings. We are hoping to further develop the current fast charging system by July by also encouraging collaboration between the charger manufacturers and Optare. A software project has been commissioned by the charger manufacturers and we hope to get positive results in July 2014.
