18/2/2015 13:17 | Carrying more than £20 million of debt and as revealed in last accounts trading at a loss it will take more than a new contract however large to set Optare to rights. I speculate, and I emphasize it is my speculation only, that it is much more likely that AL will 'pull the plug' at the end of the financial year. | jsbach123
18/2/2015 10:40 | Looks like yesterday's buyer sold out today | anslow
17/2/2015 16:49 | Not sure if this agreement has any bearing on the late trades.Let's see if the company have a new contract which they may have been holding back....I'm thinking neither party could sign up lest that deal with the union went thru' first........ | spekky
14/2/2015 11:30 | The latest news item on Optare's site is not exactly news but a bit of positive advertising I suppose. | kimoldfield
13/2/2015 19:05 | They kept that quiet didn't they? I suppose, on the positive side, it is one less salary to pay. | kimoldfield
13/2/2015 15:16 | Deleted duplicate post. | jsbach123
13/2/2015 15:15 | A snippet of news that I hadn't seen until recently publsihed in Route One in January. 'David Siviero has left Optare to head Turkish commercial vehicle manufacturer Karsan’s operation in his native Italy. He joined the Sherburn-in-Elmet company in May 2014 as Sales, Marketing and Servicing Director and has left for personal reasons, says Optare. CEO Enrico Vassallo will be handling global sales on an interim basis.' | jsbach123
12/2/2015 18:41 | Damn, foiled again! Trust Optare to be up to date, who would have thought it?! | kimoldfield
11/2/2015 10:12 | - except that company has focussed its efforts and expenditure on developing across-the-board compliance with Euro6 "...Our newly manufactured buses are all compliant with Euro 6 emissions legislation.." | m.t.glass
11/2/2015 09:24 | "It claims there is a loophole which means operators can order buses with older specifications as long the vehicle manufacturers make no more than 250 of a certain model a year." I know of a company that would fit the bill! :o) | kimoldfield
11/2/2015 08:37 | Loophole allowing fleet owners to continue buying Euro5 spec instead of Euro6 | m.t.glass
09/2/2015 11:30 | Good point JSB! :O) | kimoldfield
09/2/2015 07:17 | Look on the bright side Kim the fewer buses they assemble the less money they lose! | jsbach123
06/2/2015 16:58 | Hmm, 22 new reg in January. Wright bus 209! A bit of catching up to do! | kimoldfield
06/2/2015 10:07 | He could be including exported kit forms JSB, not sure how many of those have been made or reported. SMMT figures should have been out yesterday I think. | kimoldfield
06/2/2015 08:48 | More lies in the reported piece: Optare have never made even close to 500 vehicles in a year. Next SMMT number after the disaster of December will be more than usually interesting to PIs and others who follow the company. | jsbach123
06/2/2015 07:49 | Interesting. Thanks kim. He gets a bit carried away with his zeroes (noise level of an electric bus is not zero), but is inviting investment in the Optare brand. | m.t.glass
05/2/2015 20:25 | Good news for Optare or is the rug being pulled from under their feet? Well, at least they are involved! | kimoldfield
04/2/2015 14:50 | Sure sounds like a company fib then :-0 | m.t.glass
04/2/2015 14:44 | "Optare has 45 EVs operating in the UK market and is the leader in full electric vehicles in the UK (where Optare has 100% market share) and Europe;" That is not my interpretation of the above statement taken from the latest financial reports. This is a milestone for TfL it is the first route to fully go electric ...if this is the start of further similar awards ... it has the POTENTIAL to be very good news for OPE unless Wright and ADL up their game in this market. | steve517499
04/2/2015 13:06 | Is Optare claiming to have supplied 100% of the UK's electric buses? Or that 100% of Optare electric buses have gone to the UK market? | m.t.glass
04/2/2015 11:38 | It will be interesting to see which buses Arriva choose, they run the Streetlites in Milton Keynes. I have no idea why Optare claim to have supplied 100% of EV's, unless they have forgotten to tell the boss the real facts! | kimoldfield
03/2/2015 19:25 | Arriva have just been awarded a contract by TFL to run route 312 with 7 electric vehicles. The route already has 2 electric Optare MetroCities, so they will need 5 more EVs (and 1 spare???). As the quoted leader in this field, you would hope that this is business that Optare picks up. They also claim to have supplied 100% of the UK EV bus market ... so what are those electric Wright Streetlites in Milton Keynes. | steve517499
07/1/2015 15:16 | December SMMT registrations 10 (ten). | jsbach123
06/1/2015 18:46 | Just seen bbc local news (Look North) saying 10 Optare buses on the grounded ferry in the Solent........... :-( | spekky |
