Hi all,

AstraZeneca buys up drug developer

AstraZeneca, which has jointly developed a Covid-19 vaccine with Oxford University, says it is buying US drug developer Alexion in a deal worth £30bn.

The UK-based pharmaceutical company is using a combination of cash and shares for the acquisition of Boston-based Alexion Pharmaceuticals Inc.

The boards of both companies unanimously approved the transaction, which still needs regulatory and shareholder approval. The deal is expected to close in the third quarter of 2021.

"This acquisition allows us to enhance our presence in immunology," AstraZeneca CEO Pascal Soriot said in a statement.

Regulators are still assessing the Oxford vaccine for approval in the UK. "

[...]

..".."Alexion Pharmaceuticals Inc. is an American pharmaceutical company best known for its development of Soliris, a drug used to treat the rare disorders atypical hemolytic uremic syndrome (aHUS) and paroxysmal nocturnal hemoglobinuria (PNH).[3][4]

The company is also involved in immune system research related to autoimmune diseases. "

Link is for a compilation of quotes from Proactive presentations since Cv19, at 1.20 mins in there is a few seconds of CF, worth listing to if you are in any doubt here as to the final outcome.

I'll be trying to buy more on Monday to add to my current holding which I'm holding for the long term. I am not worrying about the short term fluctuations

kloster if that is a serious post you are just the sort of investor that the mms can panic into selling no offence meant.Panic not CF as it all under control and knows what he is doing and knows what he's got 😉

Pierre you should have answered yes because in a way he is as imo he is trying to keep a lid on the share price as and again imo someone as been accumulating for a while now (and they need sellers to accommodate a buyer) when they are finished the share price will rise timing is of the essence. 😉

All, here have faith in CF and the future of the co. I think the problem is a few people are actually more heavily invested here than they are truly comfortable with.
Just an idea lots here say they will not sell until CF sells or price is whatever, but seem to be looking at their screens and ORPH from 7am onwards each weekday, just relax and look say 4 times a day ADVFN prices are usually pretty useless before 9am anyway.
After CF presentation a couple of weeks back I brought more first thing the next day the price gapped up and if I remember finished flat. After Wednesdays presentation I remembered what happened last time and yes gapped up yesterday finished flat saw today the price had dropped today so brought more for cheaper than if I had dived in yesterday.
AS Fletch said in porridge "little victories".
My point is watch and learn if your are here for £1 ps it aint gonna happen in a day probably not in a month or even six months so dont spend all day watching the share price and getting wound up by it.

I can't wrap my head around the share price action here. Very frustrating week with the news we've had, which should aid the share price rather than drag it down. Maybe CF needs to ensure tangible figures are RNS'd like some have alluded to on here....I don't know?Market is a weird beast at times. This share should have people salivating with the contracts we've won and the future outlook. Just annoying the market isn't catching on.I guess, it will have its rerate at some point. I will ensure my patience is kept in check, lol.

Well poor week share price wise, weird when we have announced two new significant contracts. Bit of patience required and as we know things can and do change very quickly. Have a good weekend all.

Trader_3, I know this is a bit left field but the video below is Jordan Peterson explaining how getting people out of poverty could help global warming. It is amazing the knock on effects things can have. It's not long but its at 2m 50sec if you want to cut to it.

Remdesivir (Veklury) positive approval by EMA (CHMP)

Good news as ORPH were planning on using Remdesivir (if required), as part of their treatment plan for the Covid CHIM volunteers.

Whilst the ongoing multistage ethics approval is not dependant on this one antiviral, it may assist with further ethics committee decisions.

IMHO
