Oil & Gas UK guidelines to simplify subsea development
Written by OE Staff Friday, 03 February 2017 10:22

Oil & Gas UK has launched new guidelines, aimed at simplifying subsea developments.
Realizing the potential of the North Sea’s “small pool” reserves could be helped by its guidelines, Oil & Gas UK says.
The launch follows a call at Subsea Expo 2017 from Oil & Gas UK’s upstream policy director, Michael Tholen, for the industry to be “bold” in its pursuit of small pool reserves.
“Subsea Standardization – Guidelines for Adopting a Simplified and Fit for Purpose Approach” is the result of extensive research by the Efficiency Task Force’s (ETF) Subsea Technology Workgroup, a multi-disciplinary team of 31 companies, led by Steve Duthie, TechnipFMC, tasked with simplifying subsea operations. Applying their work theoretically to a number of existing and proposed North Sea developments showed potential cost savings of up to 25%.
Currently there are more than 3 billion bbl stranded in around 350 small reserves (less than 50 MMbbl) that are too costly to develop. By taking a bolder, more innovative approach in areas such as design optimization, field layouts and manufacturing, the team found that marginal real-world prospects could be brought online. Group member Centrica was the first operator to offer one of its prospects for review, with a case study developed on their Pegasus West field in the southern North Sea revealing that savings of 20-25% were feasible.
“As an industry, we’ve become used to gold-plating and over-specifying our work. The Subsea Standardization Project demonstrates how adopting a more simplified approach can make subsea development far more affordable,” says Stephen Marcos Jones, business excellence director, Oil & Gas UK.
“This project is a shining example of what can be achieved when industry experts are given the license to innovate, share knowledge, and tackle project delivery with fresh eyes. ‘Collaboration’ is a word banded about a lot, but this is it in action.
“We hope that by taking on board these guidelines, companies will be able to unlock new reserves and in doing so help the UK continental shelf reach its full potential.”
Oil & Gas UK now wants to maximize the impact of these guidelines and welcomes opportunities to meet with companies who are interested in exploring how they can be meaningfully implemented into both current and future projects.
The new guidelines could also be used alongside the Project Collaboration Toolkit (PCT), recently developed by the Engineering Construction Industry Training Board (ECITB). The PCT sets out principles for collaborative work and is endorsed by Oil & Gas UK, the Offshore Contractors Association and is an Oil and Gas Authority recommended tool.

My prediction for next week is 1 or 2 updates...if the deals are announced we will be clear of 1.3p...

Personally believe no.placing...unless major deal announced...so if risk averse wait till thursday/Friday next week to see if placing coming...

So if we don't get placing next week at 0.5p will the people who sold be reimbursed for the cost it takes to buy their stock back???

If no news in morning gives market chance to get stock...so classic up...then drop and widen spread so all who want to buy will be put off by spread however when they go to buy on drops and tightened spread find can't buy and need to do foks...

And the demand from stock is not being met...by my calculation market short by at least50mill shares...at same time they like everyone else who are trading are playing Russian roulette..ie if good news everyone will try to buy and shortage will go up even higher...if bad news or perceived bad news then mm's may chance spike down???

Those getting caught in people's prediction of placing at 0.5p and sold today...will find if no placing next week they will have to pay higher to get their stock back

What have posted research wise???

Obvious the guys in aim who rode 88e from 0.3p to 4p and others now want cheap stakes...so u need sellers???don't worry enough will sell as they don't know the golden tickets they hold...won't be gone till end of this year but more likely next year well in to oil super cycle..where I think we will have reached 100mill m/cap.

Pj we live in a world of not very nice people...this morning I'm at work just before 8am...I normally let the delivery guys in so they can deliver b4 we open...so Driver comes..delivers..leaves...then I get knock on shutter...same Driver comes back in...says the car that was parked in front of you tried to reverse back to let me out...and she's wacked your car...I told her you were inside...buts she's driven off...here's her number plate...I go out and she put cracks in my number plate...I'm thinking what is wrong with people...if I phone police...it's a waste of their time...she get done for driving off...and if she'd told me I would have said it's ok..cars 7 years old what's the problem

If it's future is so wonderful then there's surely no need for your incessant posting on this thread. I'm sure I'm not the only one who has experienced your exuberance on other stocks in recent years, only for you to disappear fairly abruptly and the company concerned subsequently achieve "dog" status.

One stock I've been looking at has had 3 weeks non stop buying and only this week is reflected in share price ..so we nailed deal with Chinese and garden hill...to see the true benefit hold till end of February...

Some are doing what I used to do..ie see the hot stock of the day jump in thinking il make some...and run about like that over a series of stocks...making some losing some...now those who sold nuog last week after it came back down last Friday to 0.4p...to then see it kick of Tuesday and they missed over 75% if not more and probably took hit to get out???

Comedy your right in your observations. Sadly there was certain posters trying to deter and create doubt by posting placing rumours!! Not just here but other sites also.. Mms do look in here so quite possible they dropped it for thw weak holders. Patience will be rewarded here imo and with news flow should build in anticipation.. gla

Now this week positive is we are up almost 60% from last week...we have 100mill barrels of oil..the consortium do all the work and get 50/50 split...the rns also let's you know to expect a jv here...so I'm expecting back costs on garden hill and funds for them to buy in jv

Next research point is to discover the 2 marginal deals that are closed to completion

We then have the circus arriving was it Wednesday night???

If nuog a dead stock no one would be here...pi took max risk buying guide at 0.3p/0.4p...the market has given pi's 0.25/0.35p to get out...why???they want the Sp from 0.7p to 3p to be there's...so pi's get almost 100%...from lows and miss the remaining 2.3p...which with 0.4p buy price is another almost 600%...that's why posters coming on posting no info but trying character assassinations???

Exactly glenkaz...someone posts placing coming next week at 0.5p...people get scared and sell...

Another way to look at it is last week we were 0.4p and if we got 0.5p it would have been 25% increase on share price and seen as a positive sign...

Personally believe no placing coming...each time they drop share price today they restricted buying...which means mm's happy to take sells and deterring buying

Been possible to sell 10mill in 1 trade at 0.66p...when share price dropped couldn't buy volume...had to do a fok for 300k...

This week the total no.of shares have been traded. People locked in from last year have had chance to get out...others have noticed nuog and will hopefully research it over weekend
