LONDON (Thomson Financial) - UK software group Northgate Information
Solutions reported a 4 pct rise in annual profits, helped by a strong second
half, and said it had made a good start to its new financial year.
The Hemel Hempstead-based company, which makes software for the public
services and human resources markets and runs customers' IT systems, said pretax
profit for the year to April 30 was 31.9 mln stg from 30.6 mln a year earlier.
Revenue rose 6 pct to 351.7 mln stg, from 332.7 mln, and ahead of the 350
mln stg consensus forecast.
Northgate IS chief executive Chris Stone said profits were driven by a
strong performance from its human resources division, a return to growth in its
public services division and increased orders in the managed services unit,
particularly education contracts.
"The momentum in order intake that we saw in the second half of last year
has continued into the beginning of this year, which has given us confidence in
the full year outlook for our continuing Northgate IS business," Stone said.
He said he would focus on integrating ARINSO International into the group
after Northgate IS bought a majority stake in the Belgian outsourcer in May.
The move will prompt a takeover of the remainder of the company for around
257 mln stg.
Northgate IS shares closed at 79.5 pence yesterday, valuing the company at
493 mln stg.

'This has been a highly significant year in the development of the Group. We
made a number of earnings enhancing acquisitions to develop our position and
broaden our range of products and services in the Human Resources (HR) and
Public Sector markets. The acquisition of ARINSO will represent a step change in
Northgate's development transforming our successful Human Resources division
into a truly global business.'

Chris Stone, Chief Executive:

'This has been another good year for Northgate. We achieved good growth in key
parts of the business and capitalised on our strong positions in each of our
markets. We saw acceleration in revenue growth in the second half of the year in
all parts of the Group, driven by a strong performance in the Human Resources
division, Public Services returning to growth, and an increase in workload in
the Managed Services division driven by significant new education contracts. It
is pleasing to see our continued investment in sales and marketing moving us
towards our medium term growth expectations. The momentum in order intake that
we saw in the second half of last year has continued into the beginning of this
year, which has given us confidence in the full year outlook for our continuing
Northgate Information Solutions business. In addition we have real excitement
over the prospects for the enlarged group as we integrate ARINSO.'

Usually this share price has a nice run up in the week before results--only to give up much of that in the weeks following. I do not detect much of a run up over the last 7 days. Is that because most folk have not realised that the results are earlier this year, or are we going to see a rise AFTER the results this year?

If you look at the forecasts you will see that the figure is marginally lower than 8 and 13 weeks ago:

The eps increase is not so impressive - 6.1 to 6.22, presumably reflecting more tax as the losses are used up.

With regard to the dividend, don't forget that last year was a single payment but this year 0.24p was paid as an interim. On a 1/3 : 2/3 basis the final would be 0.48 giving 0.72 contra 0.7 forecast.

Northgate launches 'MyHousing' as a flexible service for smaller RSLs
19/06/2007 [Trade / PR]

Northgate Information Solutions today launches 'MyHousing', a new offering aimed at transforming citizen service for smaller Registered Social Landlords (RSLs) by providing access to Northgate's housing management and finance systems over the internet.

Launched today at the Chartered Institute of Housing conference, MyHousing offers fast, flexible and cost-effective access to Northgate's market-leading systems, enabling housing organisations to transform citizen service and increase efficiency.

MyHousing is targeted at smaller landlords who may wish to avoid time-consuming installation processes whilst benefiting from secure, 24/7 access to high-quality systems. MyHousing is priced according to the number of properties under management and the particular services organisations require access to, enabling the selection of additional services on an incremental basis.

MyHousing will enable housing organisations to:

- improve service delivery for residents through managing key areas, such as rent and repairs, more effectively;
- manage diversity and other key service issues through a better understanding of residents and properties;
- access advanced but easy-to-use housing and finance management systems over the internet;
- manage performance through immediate access to information and reports.

Today's launch follows the selection of MyHousing by the National Department of Housing in South Africa last month, where it will be used by seven housing associations looking to develop effective and efficient processes.

Joe Bradley, Managing Director of Local Government & Social Housing at Northgate Public Services, said today:
"Carefully managed housing provision is key to sustainable communities. It is essential that registered social landlords are able to access the information and systems they need in order to place residents at the heart of their services.

"MyHousing enables flexible and cost-effective access to Northgate's advanced housing system, which is used in the management of over three million properties worldwide. It provides an additional option for smaller, hard-pressed landlords looking to deliver effective and efficient services without installing new systems."
