Every company makes a voting rights statement.

Is the following anouncement a prelude to something? Is someone sniffing around again?

RNS Number:2309U
Northgate Information Solutions PLC

The total number of voting rights in the Company is therefore 536,746,696.

The above figure may be used by shareholders as the denominator for the
calculations by which they will determine if they are required to notify their
interest in, or a change to their interest in, the Company, under the Disclosure
and Transparency Rules.

Its always ben a long story with NIS. NIS needs concrete figures and results for the share price to move forward. It always has done.

And on the other side of the coin, the slightest trickle of anything that can be taken as "bad news", immediately depresses the share price

This is one stock that never seems to get overvalued at least.

I think the next results should show a move up in the share price

Hotfinance - no justification, based on combination of price/volume momentum. I said this stock showed no momentum and any talk of 90p+ was unlikely in the short term. I'm long, so I'm hoping for a rise but 83-84p appears to be the current trading range - which is also quite a tight band.

Response to media coverage of elections software
27/03/2007 [Trade / PR]

Speaking today regarding comments in the media about Northgate's Pickwick elections software, Russell Osborne, Managing Director of Land & Property at Northgate Information Solutions, said:

"We are confident that all of the 75 local authorities that we are working with will be able to successfully electronically validate their postal votes using the electoral administration software. However, there is also a robust semi-automated solution in place as a contingency, which will help ensure the smooth running of the elections in May and prevent unnecessary delays.

"Any form of innovation and improvement is likely to experience its share of teething-problems and naysayers, but we believe that the progress that has already been made with postal voting can help to deliver a modernised electoral management system, which will encourage greater participation and confidence in the democratic process."

A Department for Constitutional Affairs spokesman has also said today:

"This is not - to our knowledge - an issue for every returning officer, or indeed for many of those using this particular software provider. We have provided the legislation, and significant sums of money (up to £12.2m) for the implementation of postal vote identifiers.

"We have worked closely with suppliers to ensure they will have fit-for-purpose products available, and are continuing to do so. They have all given assurances that they will, so it is for returning officers to ensure they work closely with their supplier of choice to complete installation of the software on their local IT in good time for the election."

Based on my analysis the share price is stable with no great momomentum. Although relatively positive my indicators are showing just above average activity for the past 3 weeks. I would guess there is no information out there about potential mergers although a high daily volume was seen last week. I publish my analysis at:

Note too, that NIS is also bucking the market today, which is falling for a 2nd day. This is unusual for NIS, and does suggest that somethings afoot.

Quiet before a party?

If there were to be a bid before the results, then this time around, I will take a gamble and sell half my holding into any significanct share price rise.

My gamble being, that the bid will stall or be rejected, and the share price will fall back again, allowing me to buy back my half, plus more with the profit.

hf,

they have; but the news I expect is that they have been informally approached....this is just too good a target; strong cashflows, bluechip customer base and it's education business which looks set to win some serious news business - the gov are still chucking money at this sector...
