Northgate appoints Serco director to spearhead Local Government and Social Housing
15/01/2007 [General]

Northgate Information Solutions, a leading provider of innovative technology solutions to the public services, education and utilities markets, today announces the key appointment of Joe Bradley, a former director at Serco Solutions, as its new Managing Director of Local Government and Social Housing, part of Northgate's Public Services division.

Joe's appointment strengthens the company's leading position in delivering market-leading software solutions and services to local authorities and social housing providers. At its interim results last month, Northgate declared its intention to build upon its current success in these sectors in England, and on its recent, significant advances in Scotland and Wales.

Joe will help Northgate to deliver sustained growth in the public sector as it secures new and important contracts, and will spearhead the company's pioneering work in shared services – leading the way on this innovative public service delivery agenda.

Joe joins Northgate from Serco Solutions, the international service company, where he has worked as Director of Client Services since 2003.

"I am delighted to be joining the company at such an exciting time for the Public Services division. Northgate has both an excellent track record and enormous potential across the entire landscape of local government, particularly as a pioneer and leading provider of shared services," said Joe today. "I am passionate about delivering high-quality and best-value services to customers, and ensuring that the intelligent use of technology places the citizen at its heart.

"I am looking forward to working with the management team to build on the excellent work done to date – to drive the business forward and to make real difference to people's lives through the continuous improvement in public services," he continued. "Over the coming months I will be working to ensure that more organisations and authorities, at every level of government, can benefit from Northgate's approach."

Dave Meaden, Managing Director of Northgate Public Services, added, "We are delighted that Joe is heading up our Local Government and Social Housing team His appointment marks a significant milestone in our growth in the local government sector. It is indicative of our commitment to working in partnership with government to develop solutions that place the citizen at the heart, and to help deliver the Transformational Government agenda. Northgate is committed to delivering continuous improvement in public services and community well-being, and Joe's appointment will ensure that this is the case."

Shared service delivers savings for Warwickshire Direct Partnership
12/01/2007 [Trade / PR]

Northgate Information Solutions has welcomed the publication of the SOCITM report on shared services, which highlights that the Warwickshire Direct Partnership has realised significant savings from a joint procurement programme.

All six local authorities in Warwickshire – Warwickshire County Council, North Warwickshire Borough Council, Nuneaton and Bedworth Borough Council, Rugby Borough Council, Stratford District Council and Warwick District Council – jointly procured and now share Northgate's 'Front Office' citizen-relationship management system. By jointly procuring the CRM system, it was estimated that the authorities made savings of £600,000. The programme has gone on to deliver further savings in 2005-6, including joint procurement of site licences and connectors in the region of £80,000 and savings of £50,000 per annum by North Warwickshire Borough Council following the introduction of debit cards for service payments.

Improved customer service has been brought about through the use of the Northgate system. This has been evidenced by customers registering 100% satisfaction with the services they received in the Partnership's first one stop shop in Kenilworth in April 2006.

Councils can now deal with enquiries and complaints, such as reports of broken streetlights, on behalf of other Partnership members – providing a seamless service to local people.

'Front Office' is enabling the six partner councils to:
• provide high-quality, one-stop services;
• join up front-office and back-office systems to allow staff instant access to the information they need;
• track the progress of citizens' requests for service more effectively;
• deliver performance and other management information and
• reduce the bureaucratic burden on staff.

The Warwickshire Direct Partnership has successfully reached the final stages for the e-Government Awards 2006 in both categories it entered – shared services and efficiencies. There were a record 345 entries overall.

Tony Isaacs, Programme Manager at Warwickshire Direct Partnership, said today:
"The Warwickshire Direct Partnership is delivering effective and efficient services to local citizens through a truly collaborative approach. Each council has an equal say in the development of its work, and takes an equal share of the benefit. We are delighted to be working with Northgate in the delivery of an innovative, shared service programme."

Dave Meaden, Managing Director of Northgate Public Services said today:
"We are delighted to be working with the Warwickshire Direct Partnership as part of this successful shared service. Local people increasingly expect to have their queries dealt with first time, every time and through the method they choose. That is exactly what the Partnership is delivering, and I wish them every success in the e-Government Awards."

I believe Nis was rumoured to be a possible bidder for Vertex?

"In other news, United Utilities has sold Vertex, its administration outsourcing operation, to a consortium of US-based private equity firms led by Oak Hill Capital for around £218m."

glrz - 'sitting & holding......' - couldn't agree more, reluctantly, these days, & it's often a lot more than a penny on many, huge volatility for no apparent reason is obvious when you look at many charts v relevant news - even though nis generally fairly stable medium term.
as you say - each to their own
