A fascinating day's trading dor NOP.
That new young go getter has certainly livened things up. I understand that they prefer to promote from within as outsiders tend to ask awkward questions and are not familiar with the way that the company works.

Northern Petroleum Plc

("Northern" or the "Company")

Appointment of Executive Director

Northern is pleased to announce the appointment to the Board, with immediate
effect, of Maurice Le Gai Eaton, Northern's Director of Group Operations.

Maurice, aged 52, was appointed as Director of Group Operations in June 2011,
having been Technical Manager - Operations of Northern since October 2009.
Maurice joined Northern in 2007. He has over 30 years experience as a Petroleum
Engineer and Economist and holds a Masters in Petroleum Engineering from
Imperial College. Starting his career as a Consultant with ERC, he subsequently
gained substantial international experience with Enterprise Oil, Amerada Hess
and Svenska Petroleum. Maurice has held various managerial roles during his
career and in the latter companies these roles were highly commercial with
involvement in new ventures activity and negotiations with government
authorities.

Richard Latham, Chairman of Northern, commented:

"I am pleased to welcome Maurice to the Board of the Company. This marks the
first appointment for some time that we have made to the Board from within the
ranks of our existing talented staff, which gives me great pleasure as well as
underlining the quality of the professional management team we have at
Northern. Maurice has worked hard during his employment with us and thoroughly
deserves his promotion on to the Board."

Maurice Le Gai Eaton:

The following information is disclosed pursuant to Schedule 2 (g) of the AIM
Rules:

Current Directorships:

Imperial, define serious.

Pigeon, you haven't read enough posts or you would have realised most regular posters have a pretty common view about NOP. The assets have potential but the company is well known for it's glacial pace of progress. Things promised years ago still haven't happened. They make loads of promises but very little seems to happen

Have a look back on the company website at the oldest anhual report you can find and make a note of all the things they say are about to happen and when. Go to the next report and see what has happened and what is still outstanding. Keep going through each subsequent report until you get up to date.

Report back with your findings...go out and buy a shed... buy a homebrew kit...etc. etc. Now you will know why we post as we do.

"ok
i read the posts here and frankly can't work out what anyone's view is - strange board..."

That's because it's the Galápagos Island of bulletin boards. All down to 10 years of NOP evolution. If val isn't an endemic species I don't know what is!
