04/1/2025 13:20 | For info, just going to put this Linkedin post here for comment. ==================== Danny Mullins This is great news both for Retail Investors and Brokers alike! Showing again that LSEG is committed to helping democratise access to capital markets for Retail! London Stock Exchange 3mo • 3 months ago Retail investors play a major role in capital markets, contributing to market liquidity and driving market sentiment. The London Stock Exchange has long advocated for the greater inclusion of retail investors in UK capital markets so that they can share in the growth of UK companies. On Monday 30 September we announced that from January 2025 we are removing fees for retail investors to access real-time market data from the London Stock Exchange, becoming the first major primary exchange to do so. This means a full waiver on market data monthly end user charges for all customers that qualify as non-professional users. Retail brokers will be able to provide high-quality, real-time data based on liquid markets to eligible customers free of end user charges. This will drive more informed trading by retail investors based on the latest, most accurate data available, and lead to better outcomes for investors in UK securities. All this means we are bringing additional transparency to UK equity markets and supporting industry objectives to democratise access to capital markets – positive changes that we are driving in partnership with the wider financial markets ecosystem. The removal of these fees for data access has been welcomed by market participants, including some of the biggest retail brokers in the UK: Dan Moczulski, Managing Director, eToro UK, comments: "As a business which already works with the London Stock Exchange to provide our clients with high quality pricing data, we welcome this initiative. We are committed to providing our users with access to more exchanges, all without passing on the market data costs. People should be free to monitor, discover and invest in the stocks that interest them, irrelevant of the exchange it trades on. Initiatives like this will help us continue to offer a more localized trading and investing experience to our users in the UK and around the world." Tom Lee, Head of Trading, Hargreaves Lansdown, said “HL is supportive of this move as a part of the wider push to increase retail participation through lower costs, improved information in prospectuses and greater retail access to equity fund raising.” John Dobson, Head of Investment Solutions, interactive investor, says: “This is an exciting initiative from the London Stock Exchange, and we are fully supportive. Anything that helps level the playing field between institutional and retail investors is not only good for end-investors, but also our industry as a whole. We see this as a great step towards helping to democratise investing, which interactive investor has long been at the forefront of.” Learn more here: | bamboo2
04/1/2025 12:15 | Afternoon everyone. Bitterly cold 2C, overcast. Will not be venturing outside the house today. | philanderer
04/1/2025 09:03 | Morning all, hard frost but no signs of any snow. Ended up +0.17% for the week/YTD. Added PFD and HFG to my POT this week and topped up BOOT. Good weekend all :) | carpingtris
03/1/2025 21:47 | Apologies Aleman, I had intended to reply to your post 91560 regarding my intention to stick with renewables, but, got distracted and forgot. Perhaps I should qualify 'these should do well', I'm referring to the dividends they pay and as long as they are maintained with not to much capital loss I will be relatively happy as some I currently hold are yielding over 10% with large discounts to NAV. They seem very sensitive to interest rates and rising bond/gilt yields, Hopefully interest rates will continue to fall this year, something that should benefit all the high yielders in my portfolio. Bitterly cold here, but, one of those bright and crisp Winter days. A decent start to the year- Best Riser: SBLK +5.21% Worst Faller: FSFL -1.56% On the week: +1.20% YTD +1.20% wllm :) | wllmherk
03/1/2025 21:46 | I'm down -0.320% on the day today (FTSE100 -0.437%), but up +0.55% on the week (FTSE100 +0.91%) and up +0.67% YTD (FTSE100 +0.62% and HIX +089%). Worst falls: DGE -3.89%, TW. -2.78% and GSK -1.58%. Best rises: SHEL +1.56%, BP. +1.19% and BLND +0.89%. Oils were obviously the place to be. Keep warm and enjoy the weelend. DF | deanforester

03/1/2025 17:32 | Portfolio -0.2% , DGE doing the damage after the US Surgeon General has pointed out links between alcohol and various cancers. +0.6% YTD Bitterly cold blue sky day. Never reached 4C. Sainsbury's this morning for a quick shop , quite busy. Several offers , the best one being a good chunk of blue stilton reduced to 1p , not many of those left. Mince pies at 40p for a box of six. Had a four mile walk late afternoon to pick up my wife's car from the garage after it's service/MOT - all good. Stir-fry chicken in the wok tonight with crispy veg, noodles and oyster sauce. Bottle of Sainsbury's own brand malbec. | philanderer
03/1/2025 17:16 | Skinny, I started off well yesterday but was soon being put off by people in the lanes next to me. A couple of times I had to abort a bowl due to kids stepping in front of me. They'd be thrown out of US alleys for such lack of consideration. We got a second game for £1, though, so it was an afternoon offer always likely to draw families on a budget. It might be different in an evening. | aleman
03/1/2025 17:12 | Over the 2 days according to the brokers figures I am up. +1.16%. This is higher than the advfn portfoilo page total, but as I have alwaysa used the brokers figures for week/year changes I will stick with it, | malcolm caton

03/1/2025 16:58 | Aleman - I don't know - I played in several leagues from my early teens to my late twenties - but they seem to be few and far bwtween these days. I can't stand the way bowling alleys have evolved, whereby there is no lane etiquette, you can wear street shoes and take drinks/food into the approach area. I finished up 0.41% and +0.95% YTD. A lovely sunny day, but feeling colder than the current 2C. Enjoy your weekend. | skinny
03/1/2025 16:51 | Mixed but down day for me CLI/MEGP/SUP did well, CREO/GSK/OTB/ULTP did not.. YTD +0.38% | dr biotech
03/1/2025 16:50 | Up marginally. YTD +0.3%. Just checked rightmove and houses do not appear to be selling around us as stock for sale remains very high. This is a desireable middle class/retirement area where they usually sell like hotcakes. The cheaper, working class areas, where I have previously lived, have been selling and stock has lowered considerably. I presume the difference is tryng to beat relatively larger stamp duty rises on cheaper properties. The April tax increases will slow the economy even further. The B of E should be anticipating this with extra interest rate reductions and/or ceasing Q.T. Can anyone in charge see past the end of their noses? Almost no cloud. Wrapped up and walked the kids for lunch sat outside the village cafe, which felt surprisingly acceptable in the midday sun, the dry air allowing more of its heat through, but the comfort was very short-lived. Frost persisted in the shade and partly sunny places and we're already up to 20mm of ice in a garden bucket. It's already gone subzero again so the marginal northerly has made itself known again, feeling even colder than yesterday evening. 4.0C after -2.8C. | aleman
03/1/2025 16:37 | Chilly one today but a beautiful day out on the boat! My lot were pretty much flat today so +0.83% on the week and YTD Enjoy your weekends. MrP | mrphil
03/1/2025 14:47 | Skinny - why don't bowling alleys here seem to promote competitions? I'd have thought it would be a money spinner for them. My sister already has some slightly drifting snow near Aberdeen. 4 to 12 inches sort of thing. They just get on with it up there. Imagine that in an English metropolitan area. 03/1/2025 12:14 | wllm - I'm glad your wife is ok - get her to do a lucky dip! Aleman - many moons ago, I came third in the UK under 18s Ten Pin championship. | skinny
03/1/2025 11:43 | Good morning. Sunny after a hard frost. My lot look quiet. Went bowling with family and a friend yesterday. I usually bowl around 130 but got 153 and 147, which is better than for a while. I beat my friend in the first game but he then got 187. I discovered he was a keen bowler at Uni and a couple of his friends had moved to the USA and turned pro. He told me his record is 297 - 11 consecutive strikes and a 7 to finish when nerves prevented a perfect score. I was astonished. At least I now have now found a worthy competitor who I will struggle to match unless I get practicing. Weather forecasts looking interesting for Sunday/Monday - 8 to 16 inches of snow on hills and not sure about low down but looking probably cold enough for a lesser amount of snow there, too. | aleman
03/1/2025 10:49 | Its a lovely day - we had a heavy frost that has all but gone where the sun has hit it @2C. | skinny

03/1/2025 09:32 | -3c here this morning, bright and sunny. Mrs wllmherk out for a morning walk around 7am, slipped and fell on ice and fortunately only her pride hurt. As it was pure ice she struggled to get back to her feet rolling about on the ground like a new born calf. I told her she is lucky, we are all only 1 fall away from the nursing home!!! wllm :) | wllmherk
03/1/2025 09:16 | Good Morning. I finished up 0.53% yesterday. A worrying 6/7. | skinny |
