2024
A poor year for my portfolio.

I take heart, in that one year into early retirement, I am comfortable with my income/expenses.

Income is from my:
Teachers pension
A very small amount of freelance work
Dividends from my portfolio, which is all in an ISA hidden away from the Chancellor.

Portfolio YTD of 2024 is -4.57%

YTD is now set to 0% (thank goodness!)

My lot ended up +1.21% since 20th taking my final YTD to +4.22% so not my best year but could have been worse I guess.

Top performing individual shares for me this year in percentage terms were SAE +88.89%, DEC +41.57% and IPF +19.27% but best value gainers were probably a couple of the managed funds.

Thanks to wllm for keeping the chart going and to everyone for helping to keep the thread a pleasant place to be!

+0.6%. 2024 +3.1%. If I had not switched away from my more traditional smaller companies hunting ground, I'm pretty sure I would have done badly this year. It's not felt a good year so I'm reasonably pleased just to be in positive territory, though wondering why I've been slightly behind HIX all year. My dividend income for the tax-year should be comfortably a new high if the axeing of dividends does not spread to larger stocks and those with more international earnings. I remain wary.

Rain has arrived. The wind is coming and going but is still occasionally strong. 11.0C after 5.4C.

Investments and weather have both had better years. I hope everyone sees better in 2025.

Down -0.04% this short week.

Final YTD is +5.82%

ETF MIDD and TRIG Divi's received today and will be re-invested.

Sold DLG today for a small profit and glad to have recovered from the loss that was a few weeks back :)

Will be looking to invest into new items Thursday/Friday for the start of a new year! :)

Let's hope we all have a better year in the markets for 2025 - though my gut tells me it could prove challenging, lol

I'm up +0.771% on the day today (FTSE100 +0.640%), and up +7.39% on the year (FTSE100 +5.69% and HIX +5.35%).

Best rises: SGRO +1.89%, BP. +1.62% and VOD +1.61%.

Only 3 fell: TATE -0.69%, SSE -0.47% and IMI -0.44%.

A very odd last minute fall for SSE at the close of play.

Decent enough last day, up about 0.5%

YTD 6.37%

Thats disappointing after being somewhat higher after 6months.



On the year 14 fell, CREO/BGO worst in terms of percentage and value.

8 gainers OTB/MEGP/SUP gained the most, AV paid the most in dividends.

About 10 stayed roughly the same or I sold before the end of the year. About half the 20 trades I made this year were correct. Pin sticking at best.

Have a quiet get together this evening. About half the 10 or so that we normally meet are under the weather, so its not going to be up to much.

I'm not totally convinced of my figures from HL, but :-

I finished +0.74% and +2.33% YTD.

Like others, this has been my best year for pure income.

A New Years Eve rally to finish off a difficult year.
+0.56% folio with leading gainer ADVT +6.9%
Decembers dividends didn't amount to much.

Best individual profit taken over the year 2024 was : CMCX
Share of the year 2024 : PLUS
Worst sector performances : Renewables, Resources.

The 2024 Folio YTD = +5.83%

Same here Brucie, my best year for dividend income but my year to date figure has barely moved. I was watching Bloomberg earlier and they were highlighting that the Mag7 were up over 20% for the second consecutive year. Horrible day here weather wise, strong winds, driving rain and very dull and grey. My figures for the short week are:

Best Riser: FGEN +1.95%

Worst Faller: CLI -2.90%

On the week: +0.15%

2024: +1.30%

Happy New Year from me. An unexpectedly exuberant close for the Bruciefolio after a decidedly underwhelming year. Not sure where all those dividends have gone, as the folio has barely moved forward, so in effect, running to stand still.

Hope you have the short version of the winter bug, MrP. I've just been out on the bike for the first time in two weeks and the wind then decided to pick up significantly. It nearly stopped me at times but remember my broken gear change is stuck in top. I'm knackered and dizzy now, and started coughing a little phlegm up so it feels like there could be a wet cough coming now. If I remember rightly, Covid was a short breathless fever and then later a horrible lingering wet cough so I'm going to guess I might have one of the recent weaker strains of Covid. Mrs A is in her third week of coughing but it's going. No.3 has been coughing about 3 days but it does not appear to be bothering him much.

Rather typically, I've just got home and the sun has come out! The rain front and cold air will be here soon, though.

Good morning. Grey, but muld and dry. We've had warnings for 50-60mph winds Sunday night. Then Monday. The Monday night. We've only had about 10mph. We're now on the edge of a warning area for today.

This morning is the first morning with an earlier sunrise here. We've already noticed the later sunsets.

Worst falls: HLN -1.19%, ULVR -0.92% and BA. -0.91%.

Best rises: BP. +0.34%, SSE +0.25% and TATE +0.15%.

I had a quick look about 4pm and only two had risen. Improved slightly by the close, but not by much.

The fog has now dispersed.

Saw Watford play yesterday, I don’t get to many games so us being unbeaten at home against a Cardiff side that hadn’t won in 10 should have been straightforward. Of corse we put in a lame performance and lost.

Up not a lot and not a lot happening.

A mostly sunny day. 10.4C high. Two days of decent weather but we had 2 guests for lunch today, after 22 for a big buffet spread yesterday - so that's two potential cycling days missed, but I need some rest first anyway. I was looking forward to a Christmas break but illness and Mrs A planning too much socialising has meant we're both still knackered.
