Morning everyone and a Merry Christmas to all.

Supposed to be the warmest Christmas Eve on record today, 11C at the moment.

Christmas starts for me at 3pm today with 'The Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols' from King's College Cambridge. Then my wife and I are going to 'Carols by Candlelight' at our local parish church at 6pm.

We're at home for Christmas until friday then off to Estepona, Spain, hopefully for some sunshine for a week.

In the meantime, some gutters to clean :-)

Good morning - and Merry Christmas.

Milder today but unlike the other day when I couldn't see the top and bottom of the t.v. mast, today I can't even see Winter Hill.

there appears to be a slow but steady rise in most of my holdings this morning. A tad late, admittedly.

Looking back at the basic record I keep of the total value of my SIPP (I am NOT paying more money into my pension and only draw-down in March of each year) I see quite a swing.

This period only covers mid-October to now. Low point was £210,800 approx. on 31 Oct.
High point was £221,700 approx. on 5th December.

Currently £215,700 - pretty much the mid point.

aleman, 91469, ticked up your very well written post.

There are some brilliant writers on advfn.

I also really rate Brucie5 and Ptolemy's contributions amongst others.

I'm down -0.052% on the day today (FTSE100 +0.224%).

Worst falls: TATE -1.78%, UKW -0.95% and KGF -0.80%.

Best rises: AZN +1.62%, NG. +1.18% and AV. +1.14%.

Nothing to write home about. I don't suppose the last half day will be earth shattering.

We are off to our daughter's in the morning, home on Friday afternoon. Tesco was manic this morning. I'm told there was a queue to get in the car park at 6am this morning.

Enjoy the festivities.

21-7 to the blues. Biggest value gainer was MTEC (+11%) which is one of my smallest holdings. Played tennis before the rain came in and ruined it. Might be the last game this year.

Seeing friends and family for the next few days so I wish you all a pleasant Xmas. Only learned this week that the "X" in xmas is from the Greek letter Chi and first letter of Christos. One of those things that I've never thought about before.

Portfolio -0.27% , british 'engineers' getting hit in my lot , RSW, ROR, DPLM....added to my NG. holding. My portfolio is going to be very defensive for 2025.

Cold overcast day 6C. Final supermarket shop before Christmas and Sainsbury's was jam packed . Everybody was very cheery and polite.

Fish fingers , baked beans, salad and chips for dinner. Bottle of merlot.

Going to give Paramount's series 'Lioness' a go tonight.

Cold and gloomy here today, but warmer forecast for tomorrow.

I thought I'd escaped a cold this year, but no - just in time for Christmas!.

Just made a positive finish, all of +£103 for the folio.
Small gains melted away.
ADVT the only material gainer, also CSN after some acquisition news.

Desktop here is labouring, could be any number of reasons.

Thanks for the seasonal salute Aleman. A bit of quality for 3 mins 40 odd secs, thought the commentators/summarises from BBC local radio were going to take off when the third goal went in. Mind you our goalkeeper needed to be on his best to preserve the scoreline.

Our local M&S was blitzed today, hand baskets only.

3-5C, overcast, milder temps would be appreciated.

Morning all.

I had the 'lurgy' about four weeks ago. Runny nose, cough. Then it went but only to return again last Wednesday. The good news is the second bout seems short-lived. Pretty much back to normal now after just five days.

Much calmer today after very strong wind gusts yesterday. It's grey and cold though as the cloud cover isn't dense. I can see the top section and the bottom section of Winter Hill t.v. mast - just not the middle part.

Market seems moribund this morning. Everyone working from home perhaps?

Good morning. Back to grey after some sunny intervals yesterday that struggled to keep the cold wind at bay. It's dry and calm, though. We visited two households to the East of Leeds yesterday and they'd had some wet snow that did not settle.

I've started with the seasonal lurgy just in time for Christmas. I'm 5th to get a cold after Mrs A was 4th this week. No.2 has started coughing again, though, so that could be round 2 starting!

My lot are marginally down to start with.

UK Q3 GDP revised down to 0.0% and GDP/capita down to -0.2%. What will they be after 5 years of revisions?

Morning everyone.

Sunny, blue skies but very cold. Portfolio red again.

carp well done with DLG.

Skinny, I couldn't access the Times quiz, I'm not a subscriber.

Had a good walk yesterday to the Nature Reserve. Wind not as strong as predicted but very cold. Had our sandwiches shivering :-)
