Good Morning.

MrP - I think we exchanged views at the time of the change - its ridiculous and obviously conceived by people who do not drive.

1/7 - I blame the warm weather on not watching / reading much news this week :-)

Morning All.

I really can't believe anyone is at all surprised in the rise in pedestrian casualties. This is exactly what I and many others said when the new laws were introduced, total confusion even when the motorist fully understands the laws. Sometimes it is just far too dangerous to suddenly stop to let a pedestrian across as you would cause a pile up or give the impression you are allowing an oncoming motorist to go ahead of you (and let them run the pedestrian over instead!). Only this morning I had a pedestrian walking across the entrance to our trading estate just as I was about to turn in. I was toying with the idea of waiting but he appeared to be going to wait and I had a queue of cars on my tail so assumed he was doing the sensible thing, but no he didn't bother reading the situation and just slowly meandered across without even any acknowledgement. And the footpath even has double white lines across at that point which you would think gives the road right of way?!

Finished up 0.15%

Biggest loser my recent purchase CLS - GSK didn't help. Biggest winner another recent purchase PCIP as their patent issues have been resolved favourably. MTEC up 15%, but my holding their is small and still firmly in the buy and regret category.

I'm down -0.027% on the day today (FTSE100 -0.555%).

Worst falls: GSK -4.60%, BATS -2.11% XD and DGE -2.08%.

Best rises: SMDS +15.69%, ADM +1.77% and S32 +1.61%.

The recovery in SMDS helped. GSK upset by limitations imposed on its RSV vaccine.

Blood test early, then I cut the grass. I enjoyed my pint of Doom Bar at Wetherspoons.

-0.2%.

A fairly sunny day but not as hot or sticky. The clouds were still welcome around lunchtime, though. Did about 12 miles on the bike. It seems to be getting easier though I'm taking it easy in this sun really. I feel the sternum pain when I exercise and a slight ache most of the time but generally have been feeling a bit better. Scan results are still a couple of weeks away. I'll probably feel great by then. 24.0C after 17.3C. Currently 22C here yet only 16C in Bradford and 14C in Skipton. Looks like tomorrow will feel cold under the showers.

With two months melt season left, there's still plenty of time but ice in the crunch areas of the NWP is higher than average, and the forecast is colder than average and grey, so odds of an opening this year are lengthening.

Portfolio -0.3% , gainers SHEL, VSVS, BP, HILS, ROR and IMI , everywhere else red.

Still warm and muggy 24C , plenty of sunshine. Local walk late afternoon and a very warm breeze.

Spaghetti and meatballs tonight then down the pub to raise our glasses to two of the longest residents of the village who are moving away.

Not such a great day at -0.67% GSK, SSE & CURY with the latter posting good results this morning! GSK actually ended the day 15p higher than I paid for my small top up earlier so it will actually be a few quid better than it looks.

US Q1 GDP revised to +1.4% but manufacturing was -0.45%. Services follow manufacturing eventually and remember the size of US government is increasing in size so taxes will need to be raised to pay for it. That will be hard to do if services follow manufacturing down so public sector job cuts might follow. This seems to be a ticking time bomb. Poor results from Levis and Walgreens suggest the US consumer is tiring and the economy creaking. US small cap results have been poor for over two years. That coincides with the inverted yield curve. It seems to be spreading to larger companies. :-o

Really not looking forward to the election next week, I think the only hope is that the Conservative vote holds up better than the polls predict so at least there may still be an opposition!

Millions more savers will be caught in the savings interest stealth tax trap next year. The amount of tax savers pay on their savings interest will climb to £10.37billion between 2024 and 2025, HMRC estimates show.

Skinny, it could all end in a military coup . Quite close apparently when Harold Wilson was PM and Mountbatten thought he'd have to go down that road.

I'm in Beaconsfield, Bucks constituency which on paper is about the third safest Tory seat in England. But there's a movement trying to organise tactical voting for the Lib Dem candidate to oust the current Tory..... Poll last night showing 49% /48% in favour of the Lib Dem.
