24/6/2024 19:04 | I'm up +0.476% on the day today (FTSE100 +0.532%). Best rises: IGG +2.60%, BT.A +2.44% and IMI +1.90%. Worst falls: NG. -1.11%, KGF -0.64% and LGEN -0.30%. A good day on the market for most. Property di well, as did oils. Did the weekly shop this morning, then fell into a snooze before lunch. Quite warm, about 23°C. DF | deanforester
24/6/2024 17:35 | +0.6%. PLUS up 2.8%. Dallas Fed manufacturing still suggests continuing recession of about 9 quarters and counting. German business moral suggests continuing recession (anywhere under 93-94 ish) for about 9 quarters and counting. There is not much sign of recovery anywhere in the West's business and sentiment surveys as yet. Went out on my bike - gently - to try catch a breeze. A breeze did rise for going home but it was a headwind and lifted humidity. Strong sunshine and a poorly signposted cyclepath closure made for a bit more distance than intended, ending up around 9 miles. It was very sunny until about 2pm and then overcast and sticky. It was comfortably (uncomfortably?) the hottest day of the year at 26.8C after 13.2C. I've not had chance to adapt to sunny, hot and humid yet after cold and drizzly until just a week ago but I could have done worse. Yorkshire's low is suggested at 17C tonight so I think the windows might be staying open. | aleman
24/6/2024 17:27 | +0.8% SUP and my REITs doing well, VLX only big loser. They were spooked by something at 2:30 when the US opened and never recovered. I've a couple of shares that seem to be in a rut - creo/Kitw in particular seem to drop a bit everyday. Not sure whether to set a definitive limit or just hang on. | dr biotech
24/6/2024 17:20 | Portfolio +0.82% led again by BVIC in addition to ABF, BATS, IMB, ROR, SHEL and SMIN. just four fallers BAG, SBRY, MKS and NG. Gorgeous sunny day 27C , on the humid side. Sunflowers going gangbusters and dessert gooseberries ready for picking. Local walk this afternoon and the t-shirt was stuck to my back by the time I got home. Steak, chips, salad and mushrooms tonight , mine with a fried egg . Bottle of red. | philanderer
24/6/2024 17:06 | +0.74% folio, [FTSE All-Share +0.74%] snap. SUP +9%, PLUS, BA., PHNX, BT.A, leading gainers SUP buys Spring Water and soft drinks.co Clearly Drinks. ADVT only material faller out of 7 .. | blueliner
24/6/2024 17:01 | I finished up 0.33%. After a sunny morning, we had a largely overcast afternoon. I see the media are sensationalising the forecasts for the week! | skinny
24/6/2024 16:53 | Up 0.79% 0.35% of that was due to TBLD,which will prob vanish tpmorrow! other gainers ABF,PLUS.ULTP. Worst fallers YOU,ZOO, | malcolm caton
24/6/2024 16:52 | Managed +0.21% today despite a few fallers, thanks to SAE, AV. & IPF | mrphil
24/6/2024 15:27 | Skinny, we seem to have got away lightly this year, I found just one lily beetle a few weeks ago and nothing since. We have several other lilies in a pot and they seem to have escaped too! Just trying to sort out an MOT for the Stag now I've tightened the wheel bearing he mentioned last year. They are fairly new bearings but have that daft system where you have a split pin going through a castellated nut so you end up either too loose or too tight! Doesn't actually need to have an MOT but I still do it for peace of mind. My lot are just about blue at the moment, but with another hour to go I'm not banking on it staying that way! | mrphil
24/6/2024 13:10 | I've noticed around here a lot of the large food orinted chain pubs have given up with cask ale, along with some of the smaller more traditional pubs, claiming they end up having to throw over half of it away. There is however clearly still a demand for cask ale as there are a number of smaller pubs which always maintain at least 4 cask ales which are always in good condition. | ldavis
24/6/2024 10:25 | The leaves look healthy MrP - so no signs of the dreaded red lily beetle? | skinny
24/6/2024 10:07 | Overcast morning again, but a mostly blue start. Got stuffed at tennis again. One of our opponents missed their last league game as he was playing for GB over 50s. He once got to the final of Wimbledon qualifying. Lost 2&1 which on reflection was a decent score. They are the strongest side we will face, but we are nailed in certainties for relegation. | dr biotech
24/6/2024 09:42 | Skinny, estate cars seem to bring on that exploring nature, we did Bilbao down to Southern Spain in the Merc and were very pleased to have air con! Talking of Lillies, my tree lily is starting to live up to it's name! | mrphil
24/6/2024 09:28 | Good Morning. The Sun is out again. MrP - my Saab 95 Aero estate took some beating - it went to Brittany and Cornwall on many an occasions. | skinny
24/6/2024 09:24 | Morning everyone. Another blue sky day :-) | philanderer
24/6/2024 09:15 | Caught the end of that match last night, what a shame for Switzerland in the dying minutes! | mrphil
24/6/2024 09:14 | Morning All. wllm, thanks for updating, great to see us all back into positive territory. Our classic car run went well, managed to get a shot of us exiting the Hindhead Tunnel in convoy! Skinny, I've had a few estate cars over the years (5 I think), difficult to beat them for practicality. Best one was a Merc E300 Estate I bought new back in the late 90's and kept for around 8 years. Fantastic car and you could almost squeeze the house in the back with the seats down! Eldest son is on his second one, albeit a "C" Class, which is perfect for lugging the kids around with all their football regalia! | mrphil
24/6/2024 08:11 | Good morning. Sunny and already warm. Bitcoin mining and data centres killing people by overloading grid / diverting energy away from heating and cooling in Texas? I was very disappointed with Scotland last night. Again, it was like Bradford under Hughes - 70%+ possession with lots of slow sideways and backwards passing and not a single shot at goal for 2/3rds of the game until they went to 4 at the back. When they needed to go to a much more direct style, they did not have the fitness are experience to do it effectively. Oh, well. Roll on the World Cup for them. Now will England stop playing such slow possession football, too? | aleman
23/6/2024 22:05 | 3/7 on the quiz.I was down -0.561% on Friday (FTSE100 -0.420%), up +0.73% on the week (FTSE100 +1.12%) and up +4.62% vYTD (FTSE100 +6.52% and HIX +6.34%). Worst falls: WDS -1.94% then IGG and KGF, both -1.58%. Best rises: UU. +1.62%, HLN +1.46% and BATS +1.14%. More went down than rose, that's about all I can say. Had a nice get together in Monmouth, last time before the school goes co-educational. Lots of girls playing cricket, always good to see. Sophia Smale was one of our 6th formers. Not long home from a barbecue at our son's. Very enjoyable. DF | deanforester
22/6/2024 14:38 | Thanks, wllm. The gap from top to bottom looks to be narrowing. Quite sunny today, making the breeze welcome. Been doing a little hedge cutting again but bins are full now. Shopped at SBRY this morning. Their prices keep going up a little each week and they are starting to look expensive again, likecatching up with Morrisons. Why? MRW and SBRY got into trouble with private equity debt. The rest of us should not have to pay for it. Food manufacturers and Tesco said a few months ago they were seeing food price deflation and expected to cut prices so are SBRY profiteering. I'm not loyal enough to put up with it. If I'm going to be asked to pay more when wholesale costs have fallen, I might as well try M&S or Waitrose. The Bantams manager has said more transfer business is coming but the main business has been done. If the main business is letting your best centre-back go to a likely promotion rival, then we are likely to finish even lower next year and lose another 1500 season ticket holders. We were promised a cash injection by the owner when season tickets were on sale but have seen none of it yet. The fans are already starting to complain about our spinmeister CEO again. | aleman
22/6/2024 12:55 | Good Afternoon. Thanks wllm. A very grey morning with some drizzle - but the sun has just broken through. | skinny
22/6/2024 11:50 | Morning everyone. wllm, thanks for updating. Still cloudy here, looks like rain. Out for a lebanese lunch then home for football. | philanderer |
