I gather the US CAPE (Cyclically Adjusted Price Earnings Ratio) is now up to 27-28, making it very stretched. It would leave a likely fall of pushing 50% if a recession were to come, say, on the back of the rising interest rates which are already feeding through into US mortgage and consumer credit markets.

The average contract rate on the popular 30-year fixed loan hit the highest level in more than a year on Friday and shows no sign of turning on its heels. Buyers went from the prospect of 3.5 percent to 4.125 percent in barely a week.

Still widespread frosts across Scotland and N. Ireland. We seem to be into the warmer air here now and had 3.7C last night, despite the continuing slight Northerly breeze. The sun is even trying to come out this morning for the first time in 4 days, which makes it much nicer. It' still a damp start, after even more rain overnight but, if it dries up a bit, I might even get the mower out to clear the leaves.

A very blue start for me first thing, although it has eased back a bit since. Let's see what the spending review does to things.

Morning All.

Felt colder than the recorded 11.1°C yesterday but I can quite believe the 3.2°C low of last night! No frost but very cold and wet first thing.

They're trying hard to prop up the oil price then, and certainly it's doing no harm to the oilers.

I'm up +0.662% on the day today (FTSE100 +0.616%).

Best rises: BLT +4.92%, S32 +4.68% and ADM +3.85%.

Worst falls: CPG -4.67%, KGF -3.16% and AZN -2.77%.

Miners well up again, but as noted earlier, CPG down a lot. UU. report interims tomorrow. Brace yourself for a fall.

Showery today and windy. Not a lot more one can say.

Pleased to say the SIPP still hung on to +0.95% despite a bit of a fall back. Top risers DX., SSE & ALD and for the pot a rise of +1.00% thanks to LGEN, MACF & SGC

Last in the series of Ordinary Lies tonight. Need to get home and set the log burner going as we were down the boat for lunch so I couldn't do it then. Chilly down the marina on arrival but once the heater was going it was very pleasant.

My SIPP finished up 0.51%.

The Dow Jones, NASDAQ and S&P 500 all made record highs overnight, the first time they've achieved it together since 1999.

Well, pleased I did not take the tax loss and miss a cheap repurchase, although not pleased I'm still not quite back to breakeven. Still, it has paid out a hell of a dividend that just lifts me into profit overall. Could do with a few more of those! As per the broker note today, I can't understand why they are not over 30p. I suppose I should just sit tight and keep banking the divvie cheques.

That's interesting Skinny, my first job working in the stores of an electrical wholesaler paid me the equivalent of up to £19K per year today so I guess I was well paid!

Thanks for the info on vouchers etc. The first one seems to be offering 1.65% on tv's but I'm guessing the small print would exclude Black Tag deals, and the other one lists the Curry's deals and points you straight to their website with the words "no voucher required"! Still not sure whether I'll take the plunge yet.

Good old DX., keep up the good work. You must be pleased Aleman?!

Compass reported this morning, looked all right to me with the dividend up nearly 8% so what did it do? Fell over 3%.

Typical.

I've got a few of his early albums - Every Picture tells a Story and the like, but with a couple of exceptions, he went down hill @1975 (sailing) :-)

I don't know if you use , they are offering up to 5.5% cashback at Currys - if you don't use it but want to sign up - let me know as I think there is an introductory reward of £7.50 or similar.

Also often have some good offers.

Skinny, a colleague went along to see Rod Stewart at the Rose Bowl (sorry it's Ageas Bowl now) and reckoned he was brilliant. I've never seen him live although must admit I like quite a bit of his music and have some vinyl LP's somewhere! As for the tv, I may go for that 50" with the sound bar but it might mean a change around as the current 37" sits on a mahogany cabinet and I don't think this one would fit!

Good day for the SIPP so far with DX. leading the way.

Morning.

Garden rain guage is showing 1.5 inches from storm 'Angus'
Tonights home League 2 fixture could be in doubt if any further rain falls the like of yesterday. Just light rain falling now, but the Meadow Lane Ground drainage is not assisted.

Folio holding CSN reportedly looking to tap shareholders for cash to pay for L&G Dutch arm, which presents me with another headache similiar to the PHNX fundraising as an ISA holding as well.

Morning All.

Aleman, Fullers figures seemed OK too, not that you would know it from the sp!

We've had a lot of rain around here in milder temperatures. A high of 11.6°C yesterday and still windy (a dustcart got blown over and blocked the M27) and a low last night of 9.1°C

I see the M27 Westbound is completely stopped again as I type, but that's not unusual at this time of the morning. Very helpful they are building more houses on every bit a green space around here, we really need more people and cars in one place!

Good morning, all. Bit milder last might ... but still raining. I wonder where the flooding will be. Local news said flood alarms had gone off in some Pennine towns yesterday evening.

Mitchells and Butlers showed a very slight improvement in sales in the last couple of months. That's one that would normally drop off when goung into recession, so news still seems oddly mixed.
