I read it as +ve !

orders for produced units is good
rental is good
on-going investment in rental equipment
net gearing down

numbers for 2014...in general in line with mngmgt expectns...ie. they are confident that H2 will be at least OK...imo de/risking the EPS to a large degree for the next X months till mkt starts thinking about H1 for fin yr 2015

What more do you want ?!

(with Unilever...IBM...Tesco...Kingfisher etc...reporting dull or poor turnover/result ...for a share to produce noticeable growth and be confident to meet mnmgt expectations for the year at this stage....pretty good in my book)

Yes, but sounds OK. Suspect H2 is expected to be stronger than H1 reading between the lines. Certainly OK though.

or

Plenty of 5k & 10k buys showing up as late trades after the bell, explains why the strength returned today.

...fingers crossed that no one does try to buy them.....
personally Id prefer that keeps chugging away ...growing..as it has over the last few years...

a one off gain of X % is no use to anyone imo....long term 10-20 yr gain can be much better..

I've got £6 penned in. Not too onerous to my mind.

Yes, looking very good and still not what you would call expensive, being on a forward P/E of 15. £6 on the way?

Here is what the buyer of Kentz says

"- Having reviewed all strategic options, the board of SNC-Lavalin has identified the resources sector, and oil and gas in particular, as a key strategic growth market. The board of SNC-Lavalin views this market as the fastest growing of all infrastructure sectors, with higher profitability and lower volatility for engineering and construction firms and an expectation of continued growth into the future. The Acquisition is fully aligned with SNC-Lavalin's strategy of becoming a tier-1 global engineering and construction company with a leading position in the oil and gas sector. "

Oh, baby baby !!

( the value of NBI has just gone up !.....popular/desirable sector....)

Bwoop Bwoop !!

No smoke without fire !!

Kentz....receives an offer....shares up 30%

-----

PIs
how does that song go

"always be the last to know" !!

NBI shares up 100p / 450p in advance...
I wonder if anyone buying NBI shares knew about the Kentx deal in advance !

City seems to know loads of stuff in advance...
Sunday Telegraph article about UBC merger with 7Digital with various detailed data before shareholders knew anything...

Kentz now over 9 squid
about a year ago I bt. some just under 5 quid....sadly I dont still have them !

"sniffing"

in any case....if anyone was sniffing around...wrt to making an offer...then much better for us shareholders that they make an offer wrt to 540p and not wrt the 450p of a few weeks ago

(personally I wouldnt want any "sniffing" ! or offer any way....rather that NBI keeps chugging away ...a one off gain of X % is of no use to anyone imo, y% per year over 20-30 years produces much higher return....look at graphs for things like Next for example...mega bagger)

does seem a bit strange that mkt buy price has gone up by 15p...while volume is only 6000 shares...

I guess it indicates that the MM doesnt want to sell you shares if he cant buy them in the mkt. today anyway. to obtain the shares hes providing to you

sniffing...
well, various option holders have exercised options...but clearly have not sold...interesting ...

---
Definitely been on steroids over the last 4 weeks !

up 90-95p ! from 450p.

be interesting to see future news/results...

if one modifies the P/E to first remove the nett tangible assets....and maybe add something for the value of the business and client list etc....and if assume that business is better than last year (noting more assets available for rent) and there has been a bit more time to get some benefits from synergies from acquisitions, perhaps cross/selling,..and business is more valueable to an acquirer since now has more divisions and more capabilities and more operating locations.....then the P/E looks OK imo.

(as I posted before....assets in Middle East were producing a low return....if that were to improve then the EPS could easily benefit...)

also....!
the co. might now be being seen by the mkt as more of an oil/gas sector service company....after the co. news relating to middle east...perhaps that merits a higher P/E rating from the mkt (Kentz for example went up a fair % not so long ago).

----

Illiquid...as always...fairly small buys wrt the mkt cap. over last few days...yet the price has moved up noticeably...

Ah ha, another poster !

Dont thank me....perhaps thank the chairman and Blackrock....I think it is their share buys that the market has noticed and liked...and generated other buyers...
(and of course thanks to the exec. dirs.)

and maybe thank the other posters on here.....they are fans and dont seem to want to sell !...so far...hence if there are buyers the price moves up....

(got a little short on NAS 100, fingers crossed it tanks from here ! )

Ashtead yesterday reported + 34% in EBITDA

with rental revenue up 24%

shows the gearing effect for rental companies if they can manage to increase the occupancy/use % for renting out their kit

Benefitting heavily from USA...whereas NBI has small/insignificant turnover in USA in previous years....(although now NBI does have its own presence in USA as well as an agent, if I recall correctly)..but hopefully a +ve sign for rental sector in general which could lift the P/E rating for rental sector, or at least support it
