....8th April last year for the prelims...

I think they said that wld meet targets for 2014 so i guess will be ok....
(I cant recall current expectation for 2014....35-36p or ?)

I wld guess that forward statements may well be very similar to what they said in last one...except may have some data for Q1 perhaps.

NBI results somewhen this month. The trading update was a model of good information on the different aspect of the businesses.
No fireworks expected. It'll be interesting to see what they have to say about 2015.

Over 3 years. big rise in EPS.
(updated...15p in 2011 to 32p for 2013.......those specific EPS nos are a doubling of EPS
(and as a result the share price has really motored over the last 3 yrs)
...this year 2015 not so clear due to oil price changes.....but for the past years the growth is there to see. And you're right that they spent in order to achieve it, but gearing % has stayed fairly steady I think....a lot of CAPEX/expansion has been funded from cash generated...and from issuing some new shares)
Apad, you sure you havent got the accounts upside down maybe !! ;-) )

in last 3yrs they did an excellent job imho

I like the look of NBI, but they've had 3 years of high CAPEX and the ROCE is less than 15%.

These numbers worry me - am I missing something about the accounts?

ex growth ? A projected fall in EPS say a revision to 25p for 2016 should see panic and the shareprice undershoot to say £2.

It may well be well managed but not lucky!

This is a very well managed company that has established a global presence in a relatively niche market, primarily rental but some manufacture. It has achieved approx 15% compound growth in EPS since it's IPO. Obviously it has exposure to the Oil industry and hence the recent fall back in share price. It was openly stated at the IPO that the policy was to grow the business for an eventual sale. Clearly at £4 it is a tastier morsel than £6 and a strong dollar with low interest rates might allow NBI to become part of a US operation.

Trading update vary cautious nd (imo) potentially signaling EX GROWTH for the short term - Reading between the lines could possibly see(imo)revenue contraction (reveneu per share) and and a continuation of margin contraction over the next 18 months.

One (imo) to watch but not to buy at the moment unless very confident.

( I would like to think that the rise was all due to the buy tip I twitted "yesterday"....
but sadly my pen is not that powerful !

(but nice to pick the day (closed !) before a rise !)

I guess NBI share price is a good example of fear/greed battle....

with the NAV/share....the current EV/EPS ratio is cheap imo assuming that business in 2015 is not too bad...
noting experienced bod, good track record, solid balance sheet now with 2015 cashflow in the bank, finance cost is tiny so debt is low risk imo, global co. , experienced skilled workforce....

and bod coped very well with the 2008 crash and middle east crash

big chunky buys gone thru on Fri and today....1 today of 25k shares I think
some may think that the big buyers have access to skilled analysts for the oil/gas sector..which we dont

(and recalling that NBI gets more business from gas sector than oil)

nothing gteed....pays ya money..takes ya chance..otherwise this investing lark would be easy !

dont forget that oil price of interest is imo the oil price for refining in Australia

which is probably not the London spot market for oil....
shipping cost to Auz. from Saudi costs money (have to pay for return trip empty as well) and for imported oil I assume there is an import tax to pay....and the Auz/US $ exchange rate to include....

imo these factors all dampen the fall in spot oil price...

(Auz. govt. will imho do whatever is needed to help/protect its growing oil industry.....to a degree of X....
the oil workers all pay tax, buy things, provide jobs in supporting industries from taxis to food...)

"In other words. Oil price will impact business significantly THIS year!!!!"

Whilst I understand your cynicism, it may be unwarranted.

There were a number of posters on the FSJ board who got carried away with the current hysteria surrounding the oil price, despite the management of that very well run company saying that the business was not affected by the the oil price.

I will attempt to speak with someone at NBI .

APAD Agree Agree Agree but watch out for the false dawn - With these markets easy to get suckered it with say an up to 10% rise and then get stuck with a rapid retreat again - Easy to buy but hard to sell -

Suggesst correct time may be when easy to sell but hard to buy -

WEIR still under the cosh as well. AZN & PNN overpriced - tempted to switch some into oil services. There will come a time when this is sensible but I must wait 'till the trend changes rather than anticipate…230;.but I must wait 'till the trend changes rather than anticipate…230;...but I must wait 'till the trend changes rather than anticipate

I think anything remotely to do with oil is a no no until the price of oil is firmly going on its way back to $80+.

That could be a long while. Any suggestions where I put a pile of cash in the meantime???

too early to go back in in my opinion. need to see a clearer picture develop over next year first otherwise purely speculative. I'd expect a brief bounce in share price then a return to a downward trend.

pretty robust trading statement today

Whilst it is possible that the current low oil price may have some impact on the 2015 performance, the fall in the price of oil has had a minimal impact on current trading and we expect results for 2014 to be substantially in line with management's expectations.

I expect that Auz. will take steps, if needed, to protect the oil sector in Auz.
(while noting that NBI gets more income from gas sector in Auz than from oil sector)

(in Auz. if needed, they could simply put a small 10-15% import tax, if not already different tax treatment between Auz. produced oil and imported oil
....clearly important for Auz. to have the jobs (and tax from jobs) of the oil sector and also avoid the balance of payments affect of importing oil)

Worth noting that with the fall in the Auz. dollar the fall in oil price in Auz. dollars is softened, which helps Auz. producers.
----

(for a decent analysis one really needs to be in the oil sector and know the Auz. oil sector and Govt. taxes etc...shipping costs from Saudi to Auz (significant per barrel ?, long way Saudi to Auz and long way back, must be paid for) etc etc...which I dont)
