27/2/2018 16:56 | Renovating homes is one thing but people still replace shower units that stop working, they still buy a few tiles to refresh a bathroom or kitchen. It's not big ticket stuff like a full kitchen replacement but people go for it rather than move house. I've run a building company for 30 years, even in a recession work still goes on but the size of jobs gets smaller. Loganair, I'm always happy to listen to contra arguments, it makes me look at my investments more carefully but you are consistently negative, it makes me wonder why you are still invested. | sg31
27/2/2018 13:07 | In the past, when recessions come renovating ones home becomes low on ones list of priorities. | loganair
27/2/2018 12:58 | why are you so sure it will go down | ali47fish
27/2/2018 10:33 | AB - Apart form Johnson tiles which we both agree, why do you think NXR share price has been held back? I totally agree when it comes to their South African business. When the recession comes in my opinion the house builders and companies such as Norcros will be hit very hard. I am getting very close to selling my holding in Norcros, waiting for the down turn, then to come back in at half the price thereby being able to pick up double the number of shares I held before. | loganair
26/2/2018 14:20 | I have often seen other poster write 'why isn't NXR shares higher then they are?' It seems to me because Norcros are not growing organically, they are growing by taking on more and more debt for acquisitions. When the down turn does come, I would not be surprised for the NXR share price to quickly half in value. | loganair
15/2/2018 11:31 | In the meantime the share price is back to 175p :o( Jeez you need patience with this one | 1fox1
15/2/2018 09:48 | The rand currency, soared to a near three-year high against the dollar on Zuma's resignation. | loganair

14/2/2018 19:04 | Lower pension deficit.... | loganair
07/2/2018 11:12 | Good point about bond yields and pension fund deficit; I hadn't twigged. | fredfishcake
05/2/2018 10:23 | "Nice timing"? No. | effortless cool
05/2/2018 10:14 | Big drop from 195p to 175p. Should I be surprised? Not really held this share for over five years. First at 165p and sold at 220p. Made the mistake of buying back in at 190p three years ago. It's been a hard slog ever since. Really wish I had sold recently for my break even of 190p at least I have pocketed five years decent dividends over that time. | 1fox1
02/2/2018 11:04 | "Nice timing"? That would make a pleasant change. | effortless cool
02/2/2018 10:16 | Yes, concur. Nice timing on your buy I think. | thorpematt
02/2/2018 09:22 | Amazing liquidity in this share, for a small cap. I just bought a big chunk, on-line, in a single transaction. Just hope that liquidity remains when I want to get out. | effortless cool
18/12/2017 18:05 | Absolutely, Andrew. But the result is good: some continuity, and a leader who is anti-corruption and pro-business. Zuma wanted more black ownership of businesses - which is great in principle, but scary too, as trying to force the issue could cause economic chaos - not to mention huge potential for corruption. Just need to look at Zimbabwe. Foster good education and restrict nepotism, and the best and most hard-working people from all sections of society should prosper; it might take longer but everyone will be better off that way eventually. | edmundshaw |
