Why does the spread widen?
1. When market makers lose control of a stock they do this to discourage buyers to try and get their book flat. The spread widening may be temporary. Winterfloods in particular do this. 2 days ago they were operating at a 40pt spread. For part of yesterday and first thing this morning they were at 60pts. Right now they are at 50pts

2. As the price rises the MM seek to keep the percentage spread the same to preserve their margins. This is permanent in so far that if the market cap rises far enough and the number of trades rises too, they will be happy to work with a lower percentage spread.

The spread on NMCN is very wide for a market cap of £60m. I expect the marketmakers will adjust over time as it gets on more and more people's radar

Need to see the losses removed in telecoms and we will see more of a true value.

v. little volume and IMO the actual re-rating has still to come. If their trading update is upbeat then the improving metrics hopefully will allow us to make judgement on EV/EBITDA valuation. Likewise this rise should help it get onto insti radars or indexes etc and a decent IR/broker engagement!!! Which again, will allow us PIs to see broker notes and assess future value etc....DYOR long way to go iMO!

I suspect they are being hoovered up by "those in the know" before the January pre-close trading update which is in about 2 weeks time.


Clearly almost all holders have a high level of conviction and aren't selling, thus the share price is moving up
