NICL Nicholls..........breakout from trading range and momentum looks strong. Not cheap on fundies but many arent at the moment. 10 year high.

Was on a normally deserted UK beach yesterday and almost got trampled to death by the crowds. The soft drinks manufacturers must be making a fortune out of the unseasonable weather.

Another set of good numbers. Have made a lot of money out of this share over the years and although I took profits last year I'm still happy to hold a reasonable position. Britvic arguably offers better value just at the moment because of its yield and a couple of years of good cash flow which has improved the look of it's balance sheet. Nevertheless, Nichols is still a star as far as I'm concerned!

46% of sales are already sugar free (annual report). That will rise further in the two years before the 'sugar tax' takes effect.

.. NICL sharply down today owing to sugary drinks levy proposed in UK budget. Per litre level of tax is not announced however estimate is that levy will raise incremental tax revenue of £520 mln. Nielsen estimates the UK soft drinks industry at £7200 mln sales pa .. so that would imply a levy of 6.8%. Think NICL could live with that and think the 10% drop in the stock (on minuscule volume) is an overreaction... GLA ...

Agree Grosvenor.......it's only a matter of tweaking the sweetener for those who don't like paying the tax ..... even if it does happen! Hardly rocket science.
