Nearly £10m! And they only set aside £2m; not good...

A large cashpile always useful when you have to pay out £9.5m in litigation costs (:

Ramadan started early (28 June), so should help lift the interims.

Big buying turnover and the price has fallen. C'est la vie.

The company have looked pretty fully valued on fundamentals for some little while now and it has done nothing with the cash pile. Sciece in Sport is based only a few miles up the road and I'm surprised that they haven't had a nibble at that. Too big a fall in the Nichols share price must also make them a takeover target in an industry where big is beautiful. I continue to hold.

I thought maybe the introduction of a new pound coin, which will hit vending machine operators (millions of machines will have to be altered/renewed). Nichols have a drinks supply arm to clubs etc., but is there much vending involved ? I wouldn't have thought so.

Agreed DavR0s; no matter how good the company is, market sentiment can be the biggest driver in the company's share price regardless of how well they perform as a business! Frustrating but sadly that's the way it is I guess. Anything in the budget that might be linked to drinks producers like NICL? I couldn't spot anything.

Hi Sagarn, yes totally agree. Will be more than happy to buy back in, but sentiment seems to be against it short term. Will put on my watch list for a later date

DavR0s: Shame the share price is sliding, but I do consider it over valued at present and I think the market agrees. I'm guessing many investors have become bored too with the lack of any positive share price momentum and are, like you, understandably banking profits. Its a very good company nonetheless and the management are generally excellent, delivering good results. I would be tempted again at around the £8-9 price.

Regrettably pulled out - don't like the slide on continued high volume plus possible risk of budget hit as well. Bought in at 700p but pity to have sold out having held them for months when they did nothing

Lobby you have it, Osborne must have a tax coming, so even £10 may not be a floor

Must be something like that - been patiently holding these for what seems months now with little movement and then it does this - bit of a pain

That would certainly help emeraldzebra! Good support at £10 so could bounce from that level nicely.

Not sure lobby ludd. They haven't done much with the funds from what I can see and that is disappointing. Would like to have seen some value enhancing acquisitions. Think investors are beginning to lose interest as company seems to be plodding along rather than positively accelerating. Without some forward momentum I don't think the growth story here is sustainable and at some point will begin to dip. Plus starting to look expensive. Having held for some time, I sold out.

Results out:- http://uk.advfn.com/news/UKREG/2014/article/61431269 Commenting John Nichols, Non-Executive Chairman, said: "I am pleased to report another excellent year for Nichols. We have successfully delivered on our strategy to increase our profitability and, pre exceptional items, we have delivered double digit growth to both profit before tax and earnings per share. The business continues to be highly cash generative and we propose a final dividend of 13.3p, taking the total dividend for the year up 13% to 19.62p (2012: 17.32p), reflecting the Board's confidence in the outlook for the Group." Chairman's Statement I am pleased to report another excellent performance for Nichols plc. During 2013, the Group has successfully increased profit margin, delivered double digit profit growth (pre exceptional items) and maintained its strong cash generation. Group sales totalled GBP109.9m, 2% ahead of the prior year. During the second half of 2013 our sales performance started to gain momentum and showed a 4% increase over the same period in 2012. As previously reported, during 2013 we successfully delivered our strategy to improve profitability by focusing on value over volume. As a result our operating profit margin (pre exceptional items) increased to 20% (2012: 19%) and our profit before tax (pre exceptional items) increased by 10% to GBP22.5m (2012: GBP20.5m). Once again, the balance sheet remains strong with our year-end cash balance totalling GBP34.3m (2012: GBP24.7m).
