13/9/2024 10:33 | I think this is very good for shareholders. Nicer if they have managed to get a premium for it. It removes the responsibility of risk on some decision making matters about electricity supply and hands that back to the public purse. NG will just be responsible for delivering the grid as asked for by the public body ... whether that is correct or not. I am sure they will all work closely together, but I actually think this is a significant de-risk in operations for the company. | 1carus

The final cash consideration will be subject to customary closing adjustments (including for timing differences). The Transaction is an important milestone for the creation of the independent National Energy System Operator ("NESO"). National Grid and HM Government expect to complete the Transaction on 1 October 2024 when HM Government, together with Ofgem, aim to establish NESO." From January: | mirandaj

05/9/2024 17:33 | Market report.. Utilities were a firm feature, with gains for SSE, up 3.0%, United Utilities up 2.6% and National Grid, up 1.7%. Morgan Stanley said it sees a ‘constructive setup’ for European Utilities from a macro perspective given the rate cutting cycle and recent pathway on bond yields. National Grid is its top European pick. ‘We rate the sector attractive with policy tailwinds for EPS growth not reflected in valuation discount to market, underperformance year-to-date,’ the broker said. | philanderer

29/8/2024 13:37 | Very pleased to see 1000 pence again, it took just under 3 months post the RI and shares at 645 pence with other additions around the time @850 pence to recover to pre RI prices.. A keep for life share this one IMO, does not matter what energy generating tools they come up with, it all needs connectivity and distribution, our infrastructure is the biggest barrier to entry for a competitor and the widest economic moat possible, a monopoly, enjoy the dividends, the CG is probably not going to be realised for a looong time.. :o) | laurence llewelyn binliner

29/8/2024 09:32 | A lot of discussion about AI needing more and more electricity. There must be an etf exposed to this potential demand - anyone got any ideas? A sort of pct for electricity. Thanks Suet | suetballs

29/8/2024 09:09 | well back to the value it was before they devalued the share by increasing the amount of shares on the market if you bought the new share allocation you will not have lost any thing.. | lippy4
29/8/2024 09:09 | Not seen the estimated increase in electricity demand for EV's and AI (reputed to be a huge eater of electricity)around 2030 but I guess someone has the spreadsheet for this. It seems (guess) that some 50% more electricity will be needed for these two; so generation and transmission capacity will need huge increase. Its either a great time for NG or its all marketing hype as the demand wont occur; either way as a crucial part of the energy system NG would seem well placed assuming the government don't mess things up. | colsmith |
