13/1/2017 13:28 | Happy to continue holding | badtime
12/1/2017 14:13 | It is faux competition for cosmetic/political reasons. Cynical from Chester. | redartbmud
12/1/2017 14:04 | Nice looking TA, I'm in for the next few weeks. | newforestlad
12/1/2017 09:57 | Indeed, no change other than more separation. | prewar
12/1/2017 09:28 | SO. ? Is there to be a separate ticker for the new company? I though it was still to be owned by NG and so assumed it would remain part of NG. and therefore no likely change in the market cap unless they were to spin off the new company? | bountyhunter
12/1/2017 07:23 | Splitting NG. into NG and SO. What might happen to the combined market cap? I get the sense that the SO function is not that profitable - so no real change in the combined market cap. Welcome views of others. | trader2
11/1/2017 08:00 | In terms of the recent weakness better to look at the longer term chart. The NG. share price has doubled since 2010. | essentialinvestor
11/1/2017 08:00 | It was Wilbur Ross and don't recall any reference to 'US companies' stealing UK business. Rather he was referring to European companies and they've been stealing our business for years - just consider the Utilities in general. Anyway there may be a mixed message here prior to the inauguration; only time will tell. (updated) | bountyhunter
11/1/2017 07:56 | Glad to hear that. Last week "his people" was saying Brexit was a "God given opportunity" for US (and other?) firms to steal UK companies' business. | thamestrader
11/1/2017 07:51 | No doubt there will be some changes but I don't agree that Trump has 'a particular downer on the UK'. Only yesterday the Trump administration put as at the 'front of the queue' for a trade deal and it's clear that the 'special relationship' between the US and the UK will continue. | bountyhunter
11/1/2017 07:41 | True, Trump may stimulate the economy, i.e., the US economy. But I sense he will be encouraging a "buy American" approach, so foreign firms, and especially UK firms (he seems to have a particular downer on the UK) may not get the full benefit where they have a domestic US competitor. I think this will be especially true in the infrastructure sector, and where the government may have some direct involvement. As usual: I hope I'm wrong. | thamestrader
10/1/2017 22:51 | MJ19, As Atlantic has said NG is perceived as being like a bond. Whilst stock that do well in times of growth you need to look at cyclics like Miners, Banks and Oil. They do very well when growth is stimulated. Rio Tinto this time last year was £16/ share. In Sept reached £22/ share since Oct and especially since the US election the rise has been exponential to a current price of £33/ share. BP late Feb 2016 was bearly £3 / share today its £5.11 having fallen from yesterday. However, markets do not fully understand the National Grid business and fail to understand Grid is also looking to expand and grow especially in the US. True to say the regulator over here would put the squeeze on National Grid earnings and hence limit the returns available to be paid to shareholders. Though the US business is regulated it looks more favourable to businesses that want to grow. So IMO National Grid should be seen as more dynamic than markets see it. But unfortunately markets are greedy and they want to switch into stocks that they perceive will double in share price in months as seen in Rio Tinto above. Political pressure imposed on the Regulator in the UK would prohibit the likes of National Grid from reaping in too much income from customers and if greater rewards / returns can be found elsewhere by investing in other stocks then............ | utyinv
10/1/2017 22:26 | Thanks the drop from 11+ was sudden and didn't get why it came down so hard. Thanks for the explanation, I would have thought with the special dividend and share buy backs it would be more appealing | mj19
10/1/2017 21:49 | Can some explain the connection with this share and bonds? Sorry for my ignorance | mj19
10/1/2017 16:04 | Strategic partnership in the US with residential Solar firm, seems to make some sense hxxps://globenewswir | prewar

09/1/2017 12:00 | Divi paid on Weds and a lot of investors will be re-investing (other than those that have had the priveledge of taking up the scrip)so even though it may fall today it should rise a little after Weds. On the downside, if it stays in the £9.46 range, short term investors who took up the scrip may want to sell the shares when they are allocated to them (scrip price was £9.20), thus making another 26p divi on each share. So volatility expected over next few weeks IMO! | utyinv
09/1/2017 10:40 | No buying for me for the foreseeable future yet. | luderitz
08/1/2017 21:53 | Yes I am no expert likely to fall as Big Boys have decided that this should be the case. However 2017 could be a volatile year so Anything is possible | atlantic57
08/1/2017 21:30 | I looked at the chart and it shows that we are going down for a while when I look at the macd, volume and rsi. No expert so don't shoot me down! Anyone else have an opinion ?I want to top up but not sure what price? | mj19
06/1/2017 13:45 | I really don't know much about charts--- it's a bit like seeing historical numbers on a roulette wheel to me -- they have nothing to do with what will happen next. That being said, I have observed that gaps do tend to get filled over time. Now whether that's on the way up or down seems to be the preference of the person pointing a gap out. In the graph above we have gaps at 990-1010 and 1030-1050 in both directions, so does that mean they are likely to get filled? ( given time they will no doubt, but say over the next 6 months?) | 1carus
05/1/2017 13:38 | Anyone noticed the 'cup and handle' on the chart? Bowl-->1070p (?) | gymratt
04/1/2017 18:37 | Well expert opinion proved to be wrong in 2016 so let us hope that ng confounds The institutions in 2017 | atlantic57
04/1/2017 08:45 | Looks like the big boys returned to work yesterday to resume their onslaught on NG. Just hope there is some good news in the next few months. | utyinv |
