17/4/2007 16:28 | Meson - well said! | ncp3
17/4/2007 16:19 | I would be the last to advocate that Tony Carlton take a lesson on 'spin' but I wish that the RNSs be written in a more upbeat style. Almost every piece of positive news is qualified, not to mention an almost apologetic comment at the end that the company's balance sheet is strong. Of course we don't want the company to be unrealistically hyped but if the company doesn't sound optimistic or more enthusiastic in its public statements how on earth can it expect prospective shareholders to invest - and you don't need expensive PR people to draft an upbeat statement either. I applaud Tony and the board's generally prudent approach to running the company but caution can be overdone! The reality appears to be that the company: (i) is sitting on a large, proven and potentially very valuable diamond concession, and (ii) it has both the financial and physical resources in-place to exploit this opportunity. So after 3 years, NBR must roll-up its sleeves and really get on with the job. It won't take long for the market to notice once serious profits start to be made! | meson
14/4/2007 18:50 | As Warren Buffett said: "The stock market is a device for transferring money from the impatient to the patient." | ncp3
13/4/2007 18:16 | I viewed the latest quarterly progress report as encouraging, but unspectacular. It confirms that NBR is an efficiently run, cash generative, profitable (audit pending), small AIM-listed PLC with a strong balance sheet. I am a HUGE fan of this stock, as people who read/contribute to this bulletin board know, but I must admit that after 3 years having seen the share price decline month-on-month from a high of 55p to where we closed today (14.5p) my own patients is being tested to the extreme. From what I am given to understand, the PR push should improve within the next month or two and hopefully this will start to pay off? That said, Bluesbeater's comment about a {small?} equity stake sounds like a great idea to me. Time will tell whether or not now was a good time to sell, but for the moment I, for one, will be holding onto my six-figure holding in the hope that WE ALL see some positive movement in the coming months. It would be nice if the Annual Results were published in June/July, rather than August when most people are on holiday. I do wonder if there would be any benefit in changing the company name from Namibian Resources to Namibian Diamonds? And don't even get me started on the website......... | ncp3
13/4/2007 11:59 | Even better pay a good pr company in equity and its in their interest to do a really good job | bluesbeater
13/4/2007 11:13 | Sit tight - again. What we need is some money spent on PR, we are getting the diamonds out but it needs to make the daily press to get us moving in the right direction again. Come on Tony get the CHEQUE BOOK out and let the world know that you have a very good company in NAMIBIAN RESOURCES. We have all supported you for over 3 years, it`s time we got this share price to it`s rightfull place of over 50p. Tony try and get a follow up in the Daily Telegrath and let them know how well you have progressed with your dustcarts. | maxmol

12/4/2007 12:58 | Namibian Resources PLC 12 April 2007 Namibian Resources Plc - 4th Quarter Progress Report RNS Number: Namibian Resources Plc 12 April 2007 Preliminary results from the sampling campaign in the Annatal have been positive. However, the depth of sediment has proved to be greater than expected. Further tests are needed to ascertain if the full thickness of the sediment is diamondiferous. If not then the grade will be much improved by stripping the overburden thereby reducing the gross tonnage fed to the primary in-field screen. Water at depth is still a problem but is progressively reducing during the current summer months. Although carats produced for the last quarter were less than the previous quarter an average size of 0903 carats per stone was achieved from a small area of Saltztal East, which yielded 385 stones of a total weight of 247.90 carats. This included 86 stones of between 1 and 2 carats, 8 stones between 2 and 3 carats, 6 stones between 3 and 4 carats and 1 stone between 4 and 5 carats. In addition to sampling we have re processed old tailings, hand swept a good proportion of the mined out area of East Saltztal and started rehabilitating the swept areas of East Saltztal. As soon as the East and West Saltztal have been rehabilitated Namdeb has indicated that we will be granted an extension to our area to the south where some promising small areas are apparent. During this quarter we have taken steps to increase production:- (1) We have purchased an additional 25 ton articulated Dump Truck and a front end loader. (2) We are carrying out a technical exercise assessing our pumps and generators to increase the water flow and consequently increase the throughput of gravel from the primary screen. (3) The Manhattan screen is now operational which will increase the supply of screened gravel. (4) A Ball Mill has been purchased and refurbished at very little cost. This will enable us to supplement production by milling conglomerates from tailings to produce a super concentrate for recovery. (5) Hand sweeping of bedrock has produced additional valuable production. (6) Namdeb has offered to lend us a Transvac machine, which can suck residual gravel from irregular bedrock surfaces that may be diamond trap sites. This will reduce the time to complete mining of East and West Saltztal and leave us free to sample the prospective ground extending to the south of East and West Saltztal mentioned above. (7) In addition to sampling the Annatal we have taken a first sample trench on an adjacent unmined area known as ST81, which we have named Hannatal. This produced 9 stones for a total weight of 9.52 carats including one stone of 3.695 carats. Two further sample trenches are being processed. (8) Although sampling and rehabilitation slowed production turnover and carat production will exceed the last financial year (subject to audit). Costs have been contained and the balance sheet remains strong. | bluesbeater
03/4/2007 19:38 | Agree with maxmol, as I am now given to understand that the much awaited 'Progress Report' WILL be announced by April 13th, latest! | ncp3
03/4/2007 17:42 | Looks like results will be out after Easter now, lets hope Tony is waiting to confirm some good news to tell us all, we sure could do with some. | maxmol
30/3/2007 14:56 | Looks like an announcement could well be on the cards for next week regarding the 'Progress Report' and possible other positive news? Once again, good luck all! | ncp3
29/3/2007 17:05 | Hatto - appreciate your speedy response and comments. Thanks. | ncp3
29/3/2007 13:38 | Hi ncp3.....I have spoken to Tony on maybe 4/5 occasions before & I have never known him clam-up as much as he did today. Normally I cant get away he talks so much. I have phoned him for results dates before & usually he'll say he hopes to get them out in x days. Not this time, refused to answer the question not even a vague answer. Quoted PLC regulations. Which of course I understand. Maybe he's nervous..... Maybe he has positive news..... We will see. | hatto
29/3/2007 13:06 | Maxmol - my thoughts exactly, plus a website content update! Hatto - From your conversation with Tony, was there any suggestion that the 'Progress Report' will be issued soon i.e. THIS WEEK, as I and others are expecting it to be? | ncp3
29/3/2007 12:01 | What we need is conformation that we are getting more and larger diamonds out of the ground, also agreements for us to mine in other areas of Namibia. We need something to surprise the market and get us being talked about in the daily papers again, come on Tony get us moving in the right direction for a change. | maxmol
29/3/2007 10:59 | Hi blues.....NBR is a small, efficiently run, cash generative, profitable, small AIM listed PLC. The problem we've had is that the news over the past 3 quarters has only been ok & small investors have lost interest & moved on. The share price has dropped accordingly. What we need is an aggressively positive update. | hatto
29/3/2007 10:48 | I think everyone here feels the same - helplessly just watching the value of our investment dropping like a stone. Let's hope that the news is good and that the share price heads north as a result. If the opposite happens perhaps everyone will decide to get out, which will probably result in further reductions in the share price | blues100
29/3/2007 10:29 | Good morning everyone. Just off the phone having spoken to Tony Carlton (NBR CEO). He is currently preparing NBRs 12 month progress report which was out on 30 March 2006 last year. He says a lot of work has to go into it. As regulars know he has just got back from Namibia. I must say I found him his least talkative ever but I was able to glean from him that the weather in Namibia has been very good. We all know that floods & high winds have previously been a big problem for them. Maybe not this time. He would not tell me when the RNS would be out & was not keen to talk to me about anything to do with NBR. He said that as NBR was a PLC he had to be very careful about saying anything at all. That has not stopped him in the past talking enthusiastically about size of diamonds found etc.... So is he sitting on (very) good news ? I cant see any additional negatives if the weather has been good. Am I clutching at straws ? I guess all will be reveiled. | hatto
28/3/2007 17:18 | Let's just hope the progress report is possitive then....like you decdec I bought in 2004 and growing weary!! | sunshine57
28/3/2007 15:27 | Ncp3 ...like you i am watching and waiting for some positive news! What makes you think a progress report is due tomorrow? | decdec
28/3/2007 14:44 | Considering that collectively the Board of this company have seen their paper wealth decrease by £3m+ from January 2005 to date, one would have thought that they would be more forthcoming with ANY newsflow and not wait until almost the last day of the bloody month to release it!! With the share price @ £0.145 I myself am now back where I was in March 2004 and as someone said previously on this free board: patients are seriously being tested now like, I am sure, most contributors to this (Unless you were in at 10p pre the IPO, but even your price could be on the horizon soon if the trend of the last 2 years isn't corrected). The 'Progress Report' tomorrow / Friday had better be good and hopefully contain news of new areas to mine or maybe a prospecting joint venture? IMHO, if this keeps ticking down and tests 10p, then I wouldn't be surprised to see a pitiful offer coming in offering a small premium from one of the higher valued AIM diamond companies - as NBR are actually recovering Diamonds on a daily basis. Good luck all, as we bloody need it I'm very sorry to have to say. Comments welcome.... | ncp3 |
