17/1/2008 11:32 | stock has stabilised and held well at 3.80, low volume and big price jumps, seems like the big players have stopped shorting, watch for the move up. stock will hold at 4 pounds and will be near the 5 mark in 2 months. The shorters have tried to force treziguets position and used the uncertainty of the hedge position to dump the stock- hence creatinga self fulfilling prophecy- dont forget the hedge works the other way too! dyor | bundmar
15/1/2008 01:22 | I suspect that this will indeed go well lower & I'll be shorting it shortly. I obviously spend far too much time in the local, which just happens to be a M&B, and I find that most of the time theres no more than a couple of other customers. They've started shutting early on an evening because theres no one in, & to top it all off they've just decided to cut the hours of their bar staff (not just at my local but across the board). On top of the crazy new system of counting for every single penny spent, even down to the sauce sachets, I think it spells that they are having a very bad time & I think they'll tank further, even from here. | studhaves
07/1/2008 12:46 | is there any let up to the downwards trend!? | hem008

02/1/2008 15:03 | Hello Careful, Here is a good resource with regard to the property loan hedge: If the market continues to move against their hedge then this will significanly pull down the share price. With hindsight (which is always 20:20) these chaps could have negotiated this hedge at the worst possible time. They look like mugs by having the hedge in place before the deal went ahead. Whilst I am no Warren Buffet or George Soros I must say that unless the credit markets start working again I think these shares could go well lower. The share price at a stellar £9.00 was based on speculation, not fundamatals, and now fundamentals are back in fashion and if the average man in the street reduces his beer consumption this one could go to back to more historical levels (approaching £3?) However if the credit markets get going again soon maybe this one will head back up. Personally I think it will go down further from here in the long term. Short term there could be a quick bounce. You pick your direction and take your chance!! | sumo barry

03/12/2007 11:43 | Regent Inns says no longer confident of FY profit growth LONDON (Thomson Financial) - Pubs and bars group Regent Inns PLC said it is no longer confident of achieving growth in full-year pre-exceptional pretax profit as it noted a disappointing decline in trading across its business in November. The owner of the Walkabout, Jongleurs and Old Orleans chains said like-for-like sales for the 21 weeks to Nov 24 were down 2.8 pct due to growing consumer caution in the market. The group said it remains cautious on its outlook given the trading conditions in the late-night market, the likely slowdown in consumer spending, the full impact of the smoking ban and England's failure to qualify for Euro 2008. Regent Inns said the traditionally strong Christmas and New Year trading period is still to come and said it would continue to look at corporate activity opportunities where it believes the business is well placed to deliver value through consolidation. | huwrayhenry
02/12/2007 11:01 | good trading stock this, looks like a bounce back to 625p coming up. Mitchells and Butlers was under the cosh following its downbeat trading statement yesterday. ABN Amro cut the share to 'hold' from 'buy' with 590p price target. more than overdone then. | jimmy c
