Minister: Higher tourism influx from Saudi Arabia to Greece forecast this year



Tourism traffic from Saudi Arabia to Greece is expected to go up quite significantly this year, said Deputy Tourism Minister Sofia Zacharaki on Monday, ANA reports.

Zacharaki also pointed out that while in Riyadh she met with "business people who wish to invest in Greece in the field of hospitality," and with "tour operators and influencers who are looking for opportunities in Greece to advertise our destinations."

The General Secretary of the Ministry of Tourism, Olympia Anastassopoulou, also participated in the panel on the future of tourism at the Greek-Saudi Investment Forum and made a presentation on the prospects of the Recovery and Resilience Fund and in particular on the reshaping of the institutional framework of tourist ports and the investment opportunities that are opening up in the relevant sector, for the undertaking of mutually beneficial initiatives between Saudi Arabia and Greece. In particular, he mentioned that out of the EUR 320 million, it was not enough. eur corresponding to the Ministry of Tourism from the Recovery Fund, EUR 160 million. The euro concerns the reconfiguration and digitisation of tourist ports, thus opening up new avenues for cooperation.

Following the presentation, a meeting was held with the member of the Board of Directors of the company-giant of Saudi Arabia in the field of construction Al Bawani Elena De Flavis and Mrs. Anastasopoulou, where they specified the future framework of their cooperation with the prospect of investing as the above company, for the first time, in Greece.

Spanish group adds two Cretan hotels to its portfolio



Spain’s Melia Hotels International announced on Friday the expansion of its Greek portfolio with two hotels on the island of Crete, following the group’s agreement with Zeus Hotels last year.

These assets, along with the renovation and rebranding of a hospitality unit on Rhodes, in operation since 2021, will enhance Melia’s significant EMEA portfolio.

Clocktower Deloittes may well have everything laid out.


However for the starting gun to be fired in terms of serious negotiations with third parties ,we are still waiting for key announcements from the board.The Greek Director has been brought in to try and get the Foundation to adjust the contract .If this can be done the project value is greatly enhanced.

With his banking connections they are clearly looking to replace Dagg loan finance which is very very expensive.

microscope, I think Deloitte will have everything on the table well before then, allowing the company and its long suffering shareholders to start seeing the rewards that have been clearly set out as being highly likely, bearing in mind the rush to invest in the tourist industry in Greece.

There must be so many fingers on the buying button, the moment we get a positive RNS.

Deloitte must be getting near to completion and just dotting the i's and crossing the t's - which always seems to take a long time, and I guess it is also a judgement call in these turbulent times, as to when to issue a RNS with all the details.

I probably had too many before the top-up but I just like the set-up now more than ever:- Greek director with a highly respected background, Deloitte heavily involved and a year ago (March '21) *before* the Govt incentives MIN announced there was more interest from developers than ever. There might be a few more shares in issue in the coming months and I'd like to see the loan settled on less onerous terms than last time, but it just looks too cheap at present.

One point of interest is that I was aware MIN could potentially access a 10m Euro grant from the Grek Govt for an 'individual plan but more might be available. Any single company can get up to 20m Euro and affiliated partners can get 30m Euro.
