05/9/2009 17:09 | I'll be staying well clear of ORM then! lol. A lot of the gold juniors that were managed better than GEX and weathered the credit crunch have regained 50+% of their shareprice...can't help but think that had the GEX board not courted Goldfields when in such an obviously vulnerable position (- some how eeking out the monies in the coffers or taken a few mil from MacQ) we would most likely be at the same share price as the Goldfields bid. Goldfields clearly want this ground so what might they have bid in that situation....12-14p ? Whilst still cheap considering potential I think on fundamentals it would have been just about acceptable. I hope ORM shareholders aren't mugged by their own boards incompetence. Anyway - as suspected. No counter bid. The majors won't want to push up juniors prices by competing with each other, not until they become scarce anyway. So I expect we'll see the low hanging fruit picked for cheap over the next few years. Still, money to be made in the interim. If your lucky! | ![]() serpicouk

28/8/2009 09:29 | I have good reasons to believe that GF only have 45-50% at the moment, including their own 30%, which is one of the reasons they are stepping up the phone campaign. Clearly there will be an increase closer to the closing date, but at the moment it looks like GF wil have to extend and maybe increase their offer. I have no doubts that GF will evetually acquire GEX, given that no white knight has emerged, but the key question is at what price. I urge all those who have not yet decided to reject the offer pending an increase in the offer price. Yes you can accpet the offer and if they increase it you will still get the higher price, but by doing so you reduce the chances of GF being forced to bid higher. This is too strategic for GF to walk away, but that doesn't mean we have to roll over and give them what they want so cheaply. REJECT THE OFFER. | ![]() willyworm2

27/8/2009 11:29 | As far as I can see it the posisble outcomes are as follows, based on a starting point the GF have around 30% of the stock. By the close of the offer GF still have 30-50%. Theoretically they could walk away and the share would tank back to 4p or lower, but this would still leave them with an awful lot of the company that they have said is strategically valuable, so unlikely in my view. They have say 40-60% of the company. They could extend the offer and/or increase the offer to encourage a further acceptance. Essentially saying this is the best you'll get, so go for it, no white knights have emerged. They get 60-90%. In this case I think they just extend the offer. In theory they can just say OK we have enough and there would be a rump of shareholders with little liquidity in the market. But GF want all of GEX so I think they would extend the offer as most investors would then reluctantly throw the towel in. Above 90% they could compulsary purchase the rest of the company. My guess is that the eventual outcome will be between the second and third options and that they extend the offer, outside chance that they increase it. | ![]() willyworm2

26/8/2009 17:06 | I'm in a nominee account but I just received the call from a very nice chap on behalf of Gold-fields. My answer was no and when he asked why, I told him the offer was derisory considering the potential of the company. Off to iii now to check their boards. Edit: atrocious spelling | largeman |
