Thats a disgraceful piece of inaccurate reporting. GEX have NOT disposed of even a part interest in Komana.

Goldfields are clearly envious, and with good reason.

CC - I will check that out later in the day and thanks for the pointer.

Bo Doodak,
Welcome to the GEX B Board.

With regard to getting GEX into an ISA, I had my broker (Redmayne-Bentley) check this out for me. They said that because GEX is not listed on the MAIN Irish Exchange( only on the smaller companies) the Inland Revenue will not accept them for an ISA. Having said that, other posters have said that their particular Broker has allowed them, but I can't remember the names of those Brokers. Best check with your own Broker for their particular view, I guess.

Gold Fields

Tue, 25 Apr 2006

GOLD Fields said Mali-based gold project, Komana, looked promising following comments by the deposit's owner, Glencar Mining, that it contained "bonanza grades", Business Day reported.

Gold Fields recently bought a 25% interest in Komana provided it pumped $2.5m into exploration costs. The South African gold producer also has right of first refusal to take its stake to 65%.

"Komana looks like a very promising project and we are watching it with interest," said Business Day quoting Willie Jacobsz, Gold Fields spokesman.

"We are pleased to have first refusal on this particular project," Jacobsz said. Glencar Mining, a Dublin-based business, has seen its shares gain 138% this year.

"There is something very significant there," said Glencar Mining CEO, Hugh McCullough in an interview with Bloomberg News. "I am confident this will go to the next level," he said.

The last drill cores were assayed at the Morila Mine in Mali, a 40/40 JV between Anglogold and Randgold. So along with Goldfields, we have three major players who are likely to be watching closely the drill results due any day now.

Fingers crossed!

Hi all,

Just spotted Glencar today, looks very promising, like the look of the Gold Fields tie up especially.
I see these are listed on the Irish Stock Exchange as well.
Appreciated if anyone could confirm if that makes them eligible to tuck away in an ISA?

Also added at 13.75 but could only manage another 25k. :o(

Tough call choosing between this, CHP and ORM.

Exciting stuff. I've heard something along same lines but await confirmation.
Only one way we'll get that!
Just a matter of being patient, seems.

A clip from a TMF post may be of interest:-

"Read the Glencar announcements re Komana and they talk of bonanza grades and drilling down to 60m. The rumours I've heard suggest a multi million oz deposit, perhaps 5m ozs plus.

I like phrases such as 'These results are extremely positive....'. See www.investegate.co.uk/Article.aspx?id=200601131722469442W

I don't think anyone claiming Orm has anything remotely like this potential.

Plus Glencer has free carry of 15% to 20% on three other local licences with Goldfields farming in to total of $12m.

See www.investegate.co.uk/Article.aspx?id=200602130943403000Y

Clearly early days but Goldfields signed up surprisingly quickly which backs the rumours that could be a whole new major gold province."

CC - I had intended mentioning Uganda but got distracted.

Judging by the manner of Hugh Mc's delivery at last years AGM - GEX is on quiet friendly terms with the owners of the producing mine adjacent to their Uganda license! So there is always the possibility of a purchase, JV or sale there.

Has anyone considered that there may be news other than news relating to drilling and exploration by GEX?

Ghana and Stradbally come to mind with current gold and zinc prices. These are underexplored and very valuable assets. Its time for GEX to get cracking.

And, where are we with Goldfields? How advanced are THEY with their aggressive exploration programme today? How much of their resources have they applied to defining the presence of gold mineralisation in Sankarini? Are they keeping their powder dry for more effective use of their almost unlimited resources?

The AGM will tell all and the Annual Report (currently in draft form) will provide a few clues for us all to tease out here.

Now is not a time to sell IMHO.

Hi Robbi

Similar trades happened for ORM

17:09:28 21-Apr-2006 14.68 8,912,500 1,308,647.45 Ordinary Trade
17:09:18 21-Apr-2006 14.69 8,912,500 1,309,117.99 Ordinary Trade

I'm a bit curious, as you are, about the large trades but don't think it is anything to worry about. I imagine they are a formality of some sort for a bank or fund.

I'm looking forward to an update from Solona, hopefully this week!

cc
